ROY should be...

coming straight out of the NBA Draft.

Not someone who has a whole year to train with an NBA team, players, development, training, staff, etc. and prepare for next season to play as a 2nd year Rookie.

13.9 PPG
5 boards
2 assists
1 steal

43% from 3

should get consideration, especially since his shots per game have gone from 8-9 or so to 14-15 or so as the seasons moved on.

since march 11th hes 17.5/5.5/2.5

and he just turned 20

its simmons award tho.

Shoudl Luka Doncic be allowed to win RoY after a year of professional basketball in Europe?

LeBron James, just give him all the awards. MVP, ROY, Comeback POY, 6th man, Coach of the year, GM of the year.

Not to mention Finals MVP!

You have to have eggs and mayo in tater salad. Never like the vinegar salad, but I must be sensitive to people like my whacked daughter who is now claiming pure veganism..................

Vegans live longer and are smarter. Studies have proven it. I eat bacon but wear velcro shoes.

So a guy who PLAYED professional basketball is a rookie but a guy who sat on the bench in street clothes is not? Odd logic.

Not really. From what I've read and heard, basketball overseas is basically G-league level.

Also, that player is still going to a new team with guys he's never met and playing in a completely different league than he was in prior. He's learning a new system, getting used to new coaches, the travel is different, etc.

OK. I guess. Seems like that is all stuff that gets sorted out in pre-season but maybe that affects the entire year for rookies.

As Ben mentioned, Mitchell seems to be conceding that Simmons has had a better year than him. Here he is, explaining why Ben had a better season, not making the argument that he actually had a better season than Simmons.

It absolutely does. That's why the "rookie wall" is a real thing. They go from playing 20-30 something games to 82 (more if they are on a playoff team) and travelling regionally to travelling nationally.

Again, doesn't mean that Simmons shouldn't get the award or shouldn't be eligible. Just that he had an advantage beyond his talent.
