That's a fair point, and if you can unequivocally say your QB is a franchise QB I'd agree. For the Bengals I wanted a strong armed QB who can push the ball downfield to help AJ Green.

Well, AJ did have that 99 yard bomb in the Iron Bowl. He threw it at least 40+ yards on that pass, so his arm is definitely stronger than Dandy Boy.

McCarron's arm strength isn't an issue. But then again, neither is Dalton's. Dalton's issues are accuracy, and pocket presence, and panic under pressure. McCarron's issues are similar, but his accuracy and leadership abilities may trump Dalton's. Doesn't matter, because injuries to Dalton and Campbell are required before McCarron gets a shot.

I'll take your word on his arm. I know you watched him more than I did in college. My read on his arm strength was that it's serviceable by NFL standard, but limited. He did have good touch on deep passes though in the games I watched.

You can't argue with his production. They won and he never turned the ball over. His completion percentage was good too

I'm also guessing that McCarron didn't have this kind of supporting cast at the "skill positions". Although he did have a pretty much pro-offensive line protecting him

This is sarcastic, right?

Alabama's last 4 running backs that McCarron played with:

Mark Ingram
Trent Richardson
Eddie Lacy
TJ Yeldon

To be fair, one could make the argument that the running backs also benefited from the great line play..... Though I will say that Lacy looks like a great pro.

BTW..... AJ definitely benefited from great talent and great coaching.

But I don't think he should be penalized for it..... The guy performed in big spots his entire career. He was blessed with great talent around him and he won a lot of games with it. Whether or not his physical skills translate to the next level is a legitimate question.

I meant receivers, the guys he throws to, not hands off to.

They've had some decent WR's at 'Bama while he's been there.

You also don't have to be all-SEC at WR at Bama when everyone stacks 10 in the box against that OL and those RB's. Makes it a lot easier on the WR's and QB.

I guess my point was he'll have better receivers now which should make him better.

I wouldn't exactly call any of our WR's "better" outside of AJ Green.

The light seemed to be coming on for Jones last season.... He was making some big plays by the end of the season.
