I think a lot of people are giving the Penguins a little too much credit too early. They beat an injured Ottawa team, one of the streakier teams in the League. Not to take anything away from the Sens, but there are tougher challenges ahead.

I agree but nobody else in the East wows me. The top 3 seeds are gonzo. I would say that I like the way Montreal is playing, but their chances weigh heavily on Halak. For the last 8 periods of that series they were dominated in all three zones. They had awesome shot blocking, pass break ups and goaltending, but how long will that last.

The Pens are the ones in the east. They are built for this (I just threw up a little in my mouth actually admitting that).

The Pens have to play better no doubt, but I like the way they won the series. I like that they were down and had to come back. That's good shit right there for getting your head on straight.

Still, they're the Champs...many people considered them the favorites before the Caps were knocked out; winners until proven losers. The great thing about the playoffs is that anything can happen, but obviously the Pens like this picture much better than if the Devils/Caps had been involved.

You know what? My testicles are feeling rather large right now. I think San Jose will break through this year. I think they will finally reach the promised land or at least the foot hills of the promised land. I will take the Sharks out West.

Continuing with my burgeoning testes, I'll take the Flyers in the East. I know they are banged up and have an awful goalie. But, god dammit, they are due to stifle Sid.

I however think the most likely outcome will be the Pens and Detriot . . . yet again. The NHL is dull and predictable:p

As too full on round 2 predictions:

Pens over Habs in 5
Flyers over Bruins in 6

Chicago over Vancouver in 7
San Jose over Detroit in 6

San Jose did look really good the other night, so they're really proving themselves in my eyes. If they take out the defending Western Conference finalists, then I say we just get the first Pens/Hawks final of this era going. They'll probably meet down the road anyway.

I keep saying this, but Boston scares me out of the East. They play well in close games, which is the key to winning in the post-season. We'll see how they matchup against Philly soon enough though.
