sorry if you guys talked about this ... wasnt online much yesterday

what a turd this guy is ... more suckage this year for the Laffs ... if he was trying to be mr joke guy, its a fail

"This isn't a babysitting service or a kindergarten where you have to give everybody a detailed explanation of why they're not on a team," said Wilson. "More than likely, each player knows why he's not on the team and we'll just move on."

I'm just curious, what question was that a response to?

He's spending too much time with Burke - was just trying to give the tough-guy soundbite.
the whole speech was a bit of a doozy: imagery included Wilson lining the prospects up against the boards, and cutting a swath through them like the grim reaper.

no, I'm not kidding.

No wonder Billy Sweatt was looking for greener pastures when he had the chance.

edit for Destroy: it's towards the end of the "get down to business" video clip on the TSN page
http://tsn.ca/nhl/ starts at about 1:17

I didnt hear on tsn or see the question in print anywhere. I originally saw the clip last night on tsn and Wilson was saying that he wanted to line 25 guys up and mow them all down with a russian sicle

The toronto sun has an apologist story about how there are too many preseason games for the Leafs and Wilson wants to get down to business and doesnt want to deal with a "bloated" preseason roster

I can accept that he was trying to make a joke but underneath it all, the substance of what he is saying is that he doesnt care about letting players know what they have to do to improve their games and potentially make a Leafs team in the future ... its a stretch but maybe there is an Alex Burrows late bloomer type guy at Leafs camp

As I said yesterday, here's hoping the Leafs finish anywhere between 26th-29th in the league this season.

/I don't have to say who I want in the 30 hole, do I?

I'm sorry, but Komisarek is an idiot getting into a scrap with a plugger like Jay Rosehill. What if he breaks a hand and puts himself on the shelf for an extended period of time?

thats another winner from Laffs camp

Burke comes out and says "no fights at camp this year" The players dont listen, proceed to fight and the Laffs say they like the guys intensity.

tsn then puts a story on air showing clips of Burke from what was it ... 2 years ago now? about how he wanted the team to be truculent ... same story different year? are we gonna see that clip every year?

you gotta admit, that's a pretty good clip.

its good in the sense that tsn will show it every year after a preseason fight in a scrimmage and the regular season will see a whole bunch of no talent plugs shittin the bed in lacklustre fashion

so yah ... i like it in that respect

already, i cant wait for year 4 of the pugnaciousness era

I am amazed he would fight him. I wonder if he feels he has something to prove. Komisarek is a big guy, but not a very good fighter.

Don't worry, Edmonton and Boston will both have lottery picks this year. ;)

Heh, not that it wasn't already known, but now everyone can see why no one in SJ was sad he got the ax.

Exactly dacre, the guy is a self-important weasel. He's got a good mind for hockey, but I'm glad he's gone.

He seems to be one of those coaches though that players will either flourish or drown. There is no in-between with Teh Acerbic Grandpa.

heres an alternate approach ... from a team that has made a few wrong moves lately but maybe this is a step in the right direction

Being cut can be a devastating experience, but Renney and GM Steve Tambellini tried to soften the blow for the first round of victims, meeting individually with all 20 players.

“I think it’s important for anybody who puts themselves out to be an Oiler and comes up short at this point in time needs to hear from the head coach,” said Renney.

“As an organization, it was really good that Steve and I sat in and invited thoughts from the guys and made sure they left knowing what was expected beyond that, and with nothing but encouragement.

“What we’ve done this week is certainly technically oriented … but we still had an opportunity to evaluate people and you have to give them something tangible to go back with, whether they’re going to college, junior or back overseas or Oklahoma City.”

I still don't like the way they treated Pat Quinn, and the whole Souray incident leads me to believe that the Oilers still have a ways to go regarding player communication etc.

dont know why but IMO, I think the way they are dealing with Souray says more about Souray than the organization

Souray should/could have handled things better, but at the same time, he's not the first person to express displeasure with the way Oilers mgmt have handled things. It can't always by the players acting badly, can it?

I give Moreaus complaints more weight than the wife beater. Just strikes me as a bad seed and while I dont know what he is like in the lockerroom I can understand if the organization has come to the determination that they dont wanting the guy around. I mean it must be something if they are willing to basically walk away from an on ice asset for nothing. I dont think Tambellini is an idiot and hopefully Lowes days as puppet master are coming to an end

I don't see that happening as long as he is still part of the Oilers organization. He may not have the GM title, but he still has a huge say in all Oilers personnel decisions. Same goes for Darryl Sutter in Calgary, if he were to move to president or some other title, nothing would change.
