According to Jason Garrett, Romo had back surgery early this morning and is done for the season. Kyle Orton will get the start.

Part of me wants the Cowboys to pull this out, the other part of me wants them to get thrashed to the point where Jerry has no choice but to fire the entire staff.

If that happens, could you blame them?

If you think Orton is better than Romo, you are sadly mistaken. Not that either one of them are all world, but Romo is better than Orton.

When has Orton played well when it counted? There's a reason he's not a starter.

There's a reason he's a journeyman QB.

Bears, Broncos, Chiefs.

This might actually be a GOOD thing for the 'Boys. It will force them to run the ball more and when they do that, good things happen.

Yeah I've been wishing they would run the ball more, but I expect the Eagles to stack the line and blitz Orton often.

Which means he's going to HAVE to make a few key throws. The Oline is going to have to block their hind ends off to get some yardage on the ground. If Dallas can run, they can win.

I remember a playoff game in 2009 like that. The Jets - Cincy game. The Jets did a solid job running and all Sanchez had to do was make a few key throws here and there. He did and they won.

And they now have Jon Kitna as their backup. :L

Someone would get a late christmas present if they should win their game against the Eagles.

As a Seahawks fan that witnessed an 8-8 team win a playoff game you should know better than to overlook any team come playoff time.

I think this is a similar surgery to the one that Mario Lemieux had in Pittsburgh. Lemieux eventually came back to play at a high level and even won the Hart trophy, BUT he missed about 3 full years after the surgery.

There is a chance, that Romo may not play again if he ends up missing significant time after this surgery. He's already 33 years old so any missed time would be huge.

Yeah, the #5 seed. The 'Boys would take the east and be the #4 seed at that point, hosting the 49er's I think. Either them or the Saints.

I think the 5 and 6 seeds beat the 3 and 4 seeds next weekend, regardless of how is it shakes out.

I'll give Kitna credit. He is donating his $53000 salary from the Cowboys to the high school where he's coaching in Washington. Good for him.

They still have a shot at the third seed, if they win and Chicago loses.
