More hitting incompetence by the Giants. Lead off double, single (runner thrown out at home), ground into double play.
Well, at least the Giants got a hit with RISP.

I was tracking this, but I believe the Giants "lead" baseball in base hits with RISP that lead to no runs.

Man, Blach is setting a standard that I think Harrison just cannot attain. I guess not everyone can be a strikeout artist like him.

So, after 5 full:
The Rockies have 3 singles, a triple, 3 walks and 3 runs.
The Giants have 4 singles, a double and 0 runs.

Yeah, that tracks. You can really tell which team has a 51-88 record and which team should have a 51-88 record.

Don't forget the Giants also have a double play and a runner thrown out at home. And no walks.

I really don't know what the Giants see in Sabol. He has a 39% K rate and a 6% walk rate. Has little power. Not a great fielder. But I guess he is inexpensive and "flexible."
He started the season with some decent numbers (hmm, this sounds familiar) but had fallen off a cliff offensively. FZ does seem to like multi-positional catchers (he has Auerbach and Gavello in the minors and had Proctor). One of his pet projects.
At this point, might as well hang out to him for the season so there is some optional flexibility the next few seasons (assuming he is even around by the end of 2024, no sure bet).

I had zero desire to turn on tonight’s game. None.

I done good, ma! I done good!

Harrison at 84 pitches through 5.

If Kap sents him out for the 6th, Kap should be immediately fired. With prejudice.

So, after pitching 5 decent innings (not great), Kap sents the kid out for the 6th and he immediately gives up a homer.

Kap is killing whatever is left of this pitching staff.

It was 5 good innings and maybe between good and great. Should have been 1 run. Not gonna blame the kid for a routine groundball error and a cue shot.

The Giants waited to stretch Harrison out to a 5+ innings pitcher until he got to the big leagues. I have to think that was a mistake.
