I'm pretty sure all radio material had to be under 3 minutes until the mid-sixties or so. So, I'm going to take a wild stab and say -- Stairway to Heaven?

Didn't it have something to do with the record release number or catalog number?

Is it a Beatles song? McCartney?

House of the Rising Sun...Animals?

I was about to say Hey Jude...but I wasn't sure if that even made it to #1...never knew HotRS was a #1 tune.

I don't know if that's it, but I think so...pretty sure it made it to #1
