Because... Reasons?if a human being is behind that plate then he/she needs to call balls and strikes

Because... Reasons?
Again, you are not showing your work. Just your answer.it would be ridiculously stupid if they were only there to call safe/out. If they are behind the plate to make those calls then they MAKE the balls and strike calls. End of story. Can't take away the human element of the game.

Why do they have to make the decisions on the ball/strikes?
The way the prototypes have been handled, the umpire still makes the "call". He is just informed (through a buzzer in the minor league game where it was tested) of what the call should be.
This NEEDS to happen. We shouldn't have the influence of an ump who has a "wide"'strike zone or a "high" strike zone etc.... Similarly, we shouldn't have so much emphasis on catchers "framing" pitches. A uniform strike zone would make the game so much more enjoyable. No more arguing. No more ejections. Human beings suck at calling balls and strikes. It was the only option in 1924, but we've come a long way since then.
Eric Gregg calling strikes that were clearly 6 inches outside was a good thing for baseball?
I have a dog in that fight, and even I don't take it that far. The man was a bad umpire and potentially cost my team a season. I will still not dance on his grave.I have never seen a game (NLCS) umpired like that before or since. I am not sad that he is taking a dirt nap.

Have you seen Bob Davidson?I have never seen a game (NLCS) umpired like that before or since. I am not sad that he is taking a dirt nap.
Whats wrong with this strike zoneI have never seen a game (NLCS) umpired like that before or since. I am not sad that he is taking a dirt nap.
MLB has removed almost all evidence this game even took place from any video archives. This horrible quality video is pretty much all that has survived.Whats wrong with this strike zone
You will have games like this... Personally I'd rather have that then an automated ball/strike because it makes the game more interesting at home hitters have to protect the plate more and pitchers can throw pitches and not worry so much about how to "pinpoint" the ball in a certain "zone"

Yes, I love how "interesting" it is when calls get fucked up. It would be so boring having games officiated correctly.
The '85 Cards say yes.all fucked up? Really?
The '85 Mets say yes.
The '97 Braves say yes.
The umps are there to keep order and enforce. Not be part of the randomness.that's the game... Human element could always change the game
