See that doesn’t really make sense. Sure it’s Anaheim but he still chose them over Seattle the first time. If that is really something he wants then I would think he’d resign with the Angels if that is important to him. Anaheim isn’t LA and is a lot more small market feel than Seattle, SF or San Diego. Any team he chooses though is going to be basically NY for at least the first two full years.Like I posted in July, my buddy who now lives in Riverside County said all the talk down there is Seattle. They say he doesn't want a big city like L.A.. Now that he can't pitch, who does that favor? We don't need immediate pitching. Not sure about how the Dodgers are set up next year for pitching.
Yeah, that's pretty disgraceful, regardless of our standings.I think .there was something wrong with kerby
They say he got sick in Oakland..
Then come out bad..in .Mets .
But .mariners..lose.the series..
It makes perfect sense. He chose Anaheim because of 1) Smaller market than LA or NY. 2) Mike Trout 3) Not Seattle because he didn't want to follow Ichiro's footsteps.See that doesn’t really make sense. The Mariners and Dodgers are set up the best, but the Padres owner seems to have an unlimited budget. The Giants attempted last year to get Judge and Correa so they won’t be shy. Realistically though if the Angels were a decently run franchise (alot blame goes to Dipoto for that) that would be a good option. But they might be one of the worst team in baseball history next year unless they go bananas in FA this offseason.
I think if Teo walks Ohtani is still worth. He will still be able to play the field if he doesn’t get the surgery. So it still allows for the rotating DH. Just personally I think Ohtani would more than make up for it. Sure the crowds are packed but the moment if he signed ad revenue would go up, all the club levels and suites would go up, merch would go up.It makes perfect sense. Now he made his mark, Ichiro thing is moot. Seattle is small much like Anaheim but somehow are winners unlike Anaheim. LA and NY still big markets. Now he could decide big market is where he wants to be because it gives him the best chance to win. If so, all previous thoughts are out the window. Don't really care either way and I don't think it matters because I don't think Stanton will foot the bill for him anyways. Right now as a non pitcher, all he does is improve our RBI guy from 84 to 95 if we sign him and Teo walks. Is that worth an extra $20, $30, $40 million a year? I doubt Stanton will think so. And while Ohtani will be the bigger draw, we are selling out as of late anyways.
I have a diff ..point.if view..cuz of..I think if Teo walks Ohtani is still worth. He will still be able to play the field if he doesn’t get the surgery. So it still allows for the rotating DH. Just looking at the Kraken as an example and most recently Colorado offering a contract to Deion when they didn’t have the money, but the next day they sold enough season tickets and suites to cover it. And IMO the value of Root goes up especially since they are in this quandary of cord cutting and the local broadcasts for other teams going bankrupt. If Stanton and the rest of the board play it well, they could acquire those on the cheap
Like you said it is most likely a moot point. I just guess I see his excuse for signing in Anaheim still being a factor. Every road announcer and probably Sims half of his first season will work an Ichiro comment in.
I watched him play last night against a Spokane Indians here in Spokane. Everett won 12-0…. He was just mashing the ball everywhere and playing lights out defense.
