Leading his team to the wrong end of a 24-3 score against the Oakland Raiders.
OK, ok, I'm being mean - this loss isn't all on him. However, you can't convince me that Rivers makes San Diego a great team.
He's an average to above average QB on a mediocre team. I'm a Lions fan - I know mediocrity when I see it.
I would say he's a borderline elite QB that needs some help. McCoy and Whisenhunt have adapted the offense for him. He's playing well with a 110 rating. But, the O-line is in shambles. They're down to their 3rd string LT and LG. They've got 4 guys starting that didn't make a 53 man roster this year. The roster is very thin and decimated by injuries.
I thought it was a 1-2 year rebuild and I stand by that. I will give the Raiders a little credit as I thought they would be downright awful and they've actually been pretty competitive. But you can't have 3 redzone drives result in zero points, turn it over 5 times while not taking it away once, and expect to win. The fact that all this happened and the Raiders won by only 10 is pretty amazing.
At this point I'm hoping for a good draft position. Telesco drafted 3 guys that are starting. Fluker and Allen look like fantastic picks. Te'o is just back from injury but was around the ball a lot last night. 1-2 years and they'll be competitive.
