Wow, I forgot that he was diagnosed with Parkinson's a few years ago. Really tough defensive player in his day. Old school guy

Sad to hear this

My only reason for being a Jazz fan, and now no more NBA for me once he left.

He never won coach of the year...pathetic.

I did not know this until today when I read it that he had never won coach of the year. Seems ridiculous.

Great coach, even as a Blazer fan and battling the Jazz in the playoffs in the 90's and early 00's I had respect for this guy. He's an old school coach and he and the Jazz were synonymous.

Wish today's NBA had more long term coaches like himself.

The Stockton/Malone teams turned me into an NBA fan. John Stockton is still my favorite athlete ever.

RIP to a great coach.

I looked at his player stats, which are very good. Why is that players back in the day got so many rebounds? Sloan was a 6'5" shooting guard who averaged 7.4 rebounds per game for his career, and he had seasons averaging 8 and 9 per game.

More misses, less efficient shots?

One of the very best for sure. He was great at everything.

It would be interesting to take a look at those numbers. Didn't Wilt and Russell average like 20 rebounds per game?

He looked like Jeff Hornacek’s dad in the 90’s.

Because players back then were better at rebounding, just like they were better at everything else. :D

Great at rebounding, but not at shooting. :D
