Arena Football League files for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, ceasing operations

Now lots of other unremarkable QBs can do Kap-like sparsely attended workouts.

Other than Kurt Warner, did anyone else of note come out of Arena Football? Even a blonde bimbo sideline reporter?

End of an era there. Would it be fair to say that aside from the NFL, Arena Football has been the most successful pro football league in the USA?

They have been on life support since the cancelled season in 2009. The wife and me loved to fly out to Vegas to see the ArenaBowl and spend the weekend there. But after that cancelled season they came back with a reduced salary cap and the level of play plummeted.

A couple of years ago they had 4 teams....for the entire league. Last year, I think they had 6. I've thought they should merge with another league. The Indoor Football League (IFL) perhaps? They have 10 teams. A few teams in that league used to be in the AFL (Arizona, Green Bay, Iowa).

That’s the Spokane Shock. I was an intern the year they won the ArenaBowl. Fun times. They’re actually back, in the Indoor Football League.

We had the Peoria Pirates that started in 1999. They played at the Civic Center where Bradley play basketball. They won the Gold Cup in 2000. That arena would be rocking with 8,000-9,000 people watching. Was a fun thing 8 Saturdays in the summer.
