Jackson should learn from RG3's mistakes - Learn to slide and don't insist on being a pocket passer.

I'm not sure where it's coming from that Jackson is NOT a pocket passer. He clearly is that. He doesn't run because that's his first inclination, far from that, he runs because there were no other good options.

It looks like Baltimore is preparing to move on from Flacco in a season or two. The NFL is an ever evolving league. Signing Griffin and drafting Jackson looks like they are preparing to keep pace with the current evolution. RPO is the "hot new" thing even though it's been around for a while.

Jackson got drafted into one of the best possible situations for him.

1. He wont be expected to start out of the gate.
2. He is behind a QB that has succeeded, and a QB who has failed. So he should be able to learn from both.
3. He is going into a situation and a team that doesnt expect the QB to be the savior, but more of a bus driver.

Im not sure of what Ozzies time frame to retire is, but I get the feeling Baltimore will carry three QBs this year and ease Jackson into the role. So Joe, Bob and Lamar it will be.

I don't think it'll help him to be a pocket passer most of the time - in the NFL, because that doesn't play to his strengths.

I will say this...Jackson does not sound very bright. Calling plays could be an issue.

I'm glad someone else said it.

After he got drafted and he had a few tv interviews I was like "holy shit"

But...but...but..he Is a pocket passer!! It's interesting that J. Allen is seen as a pocket passer and Jackson is not when everything that he's done says otherwise.

The great thing about Jackson is that he is a good pocket passer. If you pair him with a forward thinking OC he could light it up. While he could fit i something like a Gruden offense he would thrive with somebody like Doug Pederson or Kyle Shanahan orchestrating things for him.

Why?

And whether he is bright frankly isnt all that relevant IMO. Its about whether he knows what hes doing on the field mentally which it certainly seems like he does and that he is plenty smart as a QB. Who cares if he knows how to do calculus or some other BS.

Kind of have to agree. We have been directly privy to a QB who nailed the post draft interviews, sounded as bright a haleys comet with gas on it, but struggled at becoming a different style of QB once he got out of college.

IM happy for the kid, he went to what could be the best situation for him. He has two good mentors for two totally different reasons (assuming the other guy makes roster). Im also happy he didnt come to DC.

The thousands of yards rushing says he isn’t a pocket passer.

Have you heard him speak?

Being bright does matter because you have to be able to understand offensive and defensive concepts. You have to be able to convey your thoughts to your teammates who have to understand what you are saying.

Exactly! dude is pretty good but inconsistent as a pocket passer mainly because of accuracy. Pedersen and Shanahan would be excellent for him but so would Sean McVay.
