I just heard that Doan has set a deadline to decide on his next deadline to pick a team to sign with. Things are heating up...

Evander Kane and the Winnipeg Jets are moving close to a 6-year, $29 million deal, according to Gary Lawless.

Flyers lock up Voracek...

The Philadelphia Flyers have locked up one of their own restricted free agents, signing forward Jakub Voracek to a four-year, $17 million contract.

The deal was first reported by Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia.

Voracek, 22, scored 18 goals and 49 points in 78 games with the Flyers last season.

Voracek was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 1st round (seventh overall) in 2007 and was acquired by the Flyers in a trade for Jeff Carter.

$4.25 is insanely high, IMO. He had a good season, but man. I guess that's just the market.

It's high for a $39 million cap, but I think it's right in line for a $70 million cap. Remember, the guy is only 22 and you're paying based on future potential as well. Holmgren continues to impress me as a GM.

Burke may be a windbag, but he was right on the mark when he complained about the disappearance of the 'transitional' contract after the ELC.

about what was expected.. i figured on about 4.. considering JvR got 4.6 last summer, this is a bargain

i expect he'll get 60-70 points this season playing with G and hartnell, plus he's actually quite good defensively.. for most of the season he was the flyers '5th pker'

Biz should be happy, the Canes have made some aggressive moves to improve their team, time will tell, but I like what they've done this off-season.
