Hey footballiscul, like the avatar. Cool Aussie band. Caught some of their set at Lolla last summer. If I'm not mistaken they are coming to Cincinnati in the next few months.

I haven't seen them live yet, but I've had their new album Lonerism in rotation since the day it came out. no hyperbole, one of the best albums i've heard start to finish in yrs. if you liked their set and are into the British invasion 60's stuff, definatley worth checking out.

It's the playoffs, the only way to avoid playing a good team is to lose in the first round of the playoffs.

But yea, I think there is something to what Vance says about getting out of rhythm, our offense has scored very little since the second half of the Cowboys game. although, I would work in the second string when it seems possible to do so, in order to alleviate injuries.

That's a fair point, but I think a playoff win would be big for the franchise's momentum right now. overall I agree with your point that you can't duck teams in the playoffs.

The only two players that absolutely should not play are Green or Atkins. The rest of the team is expendable. I think Maualuga should play every play. Hell, he should play both ways plus gunner on special teams. Hopefully he'll trip over something.

Tame Impala is a damn good band. The singer sounds eerily like John Lennon. Got kind of a classic psychedlic heavy sound going on. I'm a fan.

I think he should rest Atkins. That's it. Green needs to play as he is a huge part of the offense (let's face it...at times he is the offense). They need him on the field to get in synch and tighten up as a unit.

I think the offense is what it is at this point. staying in rythm is a factor when you clinch in week 15 and have a 1st rd bye. that's up in the air. for this team I'd rather the key players rest unless it's advantageous to win the game (sets up a better 1st rd matchup)

Starters should play. Pretty much every team that rests their starters week 17 ends up losing their first game. The teams that have won the SB lately are teams that have had to play hard all the way to the end of the season and get on a roll. We are 6-1 in our last 7, why stop that roll by resting out starters? I say go all out, if Baltimore rests their starters I say lay the smackdown on them and go into the playoffs on a streak, on a dominant game.

I don't want to see Gradkowski in a postseason game unless it's mop-up duty. the starting QB always needs to be healthy, at least for the continuity of the offense.

Staying in rhythm is a factor anytime you take a week off. If we rested our starters they wouldn't have played a down in 2 weeks. Why put them more out of rhythm than they already are? Why not go in and try to kill Baltimore and go into the playoffs incredibly hot. You never want to go into the playoffs on a loss

the only stat I could find..

"Over the four most recent seasons (2007-2010), in games where only one team is coming off the bye, the team coming off the bye has a record of 65-54-1 straight up, and 61-44-5 against the spread."

it helps players get healthy. you can do early scouting on potential oppnents. every player on the roster is nursing some type of injury in week 17. i'd rather treat this week as a bye for the key players.

There is a difference in coming off a bye in the regular season where you factor in the top teams in the league sometimes play crappy teams and such things like that. And you can also afford that at the end of the season if you are a really good team who has already been clicking even though then it usually fails too. I remember GB doing it a few different years and they always came out and played bad.

the overall record and the record vs the spread are good indicators that it's an advantage. i didn't cherry pick bad matchups.

GB looked poor on offense last yr after their bye during Rodgers record breaking season. Brady completed 93 percent of his passes in his first postseason game after the bye the yr he broke the td record. Manning completed 82 percent of his passes for 460 yds after the bye the yr he broke the td record. etc... GB last season was just a good offense having an off day, and not necessarily attributable to the bye..

I think there are a lot of reasons for the team to feel good about themselves right now. Namely the huge win against the Steelers. And especially the defense, they have been absolutely killing it.

So, on the flip side of what you said, the small chance that Flacco and/or Rice comes out on fire and not only tears the defense apart, but also beats us, it'll kill our momentum/confidence. Furthermore, we aren't a top team where we have a lot to lose. We're going to be the underdog against any team we play with absolutely nothing to lose. Rest up the starters and keep the defense confident, and the team confident having won 6 of 7.

I just don't agree with resting the starters. Killing a rhythm is a bad idea.

I'd play Green but only throw to him two or three times. Use him as a decoy for the entire game and try to get some rythm going with the other recievers.

giants and stillars as wild cards couldn't rest squat. Worked for them both...of course they had no choice, but no rest didn't hurt them.

(terrible sentence)

Didn't hurt GB when they won it as a 6 seed either a few years ago.
