Per MLB Network, Brooks has died at age 86.
On a personal note, I met Mr. Robinson at Bob Feller's museum in the '90s. He was one of the nicest men I had the privilege of meeting.
Rest in Peace, Sir. Condolences to family and friends.

RIP. 23 year Oriole. That might be the longest tenure of anyone ever to play for them. Considered by many the best third baseman ever defensively. Got some clutch hits as well. WS and AS MVP.

Best defensive 3B I’ll give you that. But the best 3B to ever play was Mike Schmidt. Schmidt had Robinson’s defense and Eddie Mathews’ offense.

Robinson's play at defense was other-worldly over his entire career. Schmidt was definitely the better overall player and I'm sure an excellent defensive player on his own but Brooks was a 1 of kind defensive player...

I'm sure he was the most favorite Oriole player of all time....

RIP Brooks

I agree but that observation is totally unnecessary in an RIP tribute thread. I expect more from a varsity letterman.

Well, Brooks ain’t gonna read it so I doubt he’s offended.

Ok, you have a point there. That reminds me of something I heard a stand up comedian say the other day. Something about how he still does jokes about dark topics like murder or suicide but not r*pe/molestation, because no one ever comes up to him after his set and says "That joke was offensive! I was murdered by my scout leader!"

Time to win number 4 for Brooksy.

He hadn't played in over 40 years when he passed, and never played in my lifetime like most people in the area,

But, nobody....wit the possible exception of Cal Ripken.... is held in higher esteem and awe in Baltimore.

This one hit hard for Charm City.

Cal Ripken only had 105 more games. In 21 years.

Nice side of the infield.
