What numbers are y'all estimating?

With The Ertz contract fresh off the printers, it's going to be interesting

Reed should get twice as much as ertz

K, that's a bit excessive but he's a beast no doubt and better than Ertz.

Course he HAS to stay healthy. That's been an issue not to mention the multiple concussions he's sustained.

The fun begins, you start to develop a few football players and then you have to pay them. I like that better than paying for someone you aren't as familiar with. It can easily be argued he is the most important receiver on the team. He doesn't block worth a damn. Health is key though.

If reed can stay healthy, Cousins continues to improve, and we can get another WR in here thats a true threat in ANY situation..... Reed will set the forking market for TE's next year.

Quite possibly the most important player on our team - you have to pay him. Although clauses for playing time seem like musts.

Those concussions will have a bearing on his next contract.

His contract will hinge on health next season. If he is healthy, he is behind only Gronk as uncoverable. His contract will reflect it. He won't want health bonuses...he will want guaranteed.

There's validity in that opinion imo, but at the same time. It'd be nice to see Reed play at least 13-14 games in a season for a few years in a row first.

What's a shame is Reed gets blasted for his inept blocking ability. While not rated as one of the top rated blocking TE's, Reed is not incapable of blocking, runs routes with more precision and fluidity than any other TE in the league and has top 3 hands and RAC is exceptional. This in my opinion would put him just about the 1 or 2 top TE's in the NFL. Gonna have to pay the man so...

Having said that, can we find a clone in this years draft as a mimic to Reed and put both players on the field at once? Comparable to Gronk/Hernandez a couple of seasons ago. This would be fantastic!

I don't think anyone is saying we don't want Reed, just that he is a below average blocker. The team needs him but it also needs him to improve that part of his game. Remember the holding calls that stopped drives? Remember missed blocks that caused runs not to work? Of course at the same time he was one of the very best receiving TEs in the games and you can't discount 11 TD receptions and that is in 14 games.

While I thought some of Reed's penalties for holding were iffy last year. The "blasting" is warranted to an extent as he finished in an 11 way tie for the 6th most penalties in the NFL last year.

RAC = run after catch? If so, I'd opine there could be significant improvement in that area. In his 3 years in the NFL, Reed has 182 career receptions and the longest catch of his career has only went for 38 yards. He's never averaged better than 11.01 yads per catch in a season and once averaged under 10 yards per catch for a season. Last year his longest catch only went for 32 yards and his 14 catches of 20 or more yards would have him hovering closer to the bottom half, not the top half of NFL elite TEs in that category. The fact that Reed has no 40 yard catches whatsoever in his career is borderline criminal.

Some of the problem stems from the play not to lose mentality Gruden employed into Nov imo. Reed and Skins pass catchers in general seemed to be running 5 to 7 yards patterns on in every 3rd n 10 situation.
The return of Djax can't be overstated as well. Given Reed's fluidity, route running, and speed. His ypc should be more in a healthy 13, 14 yard neighborhood imo not a barely above 10 yard range. Hopefully the last 7 Skins games including the GB game. Where Reed put up 49 catches, 629 yards, 12.8 ypc and 6 TDs is the beginning of trending in just that direction.

And before anyone says I'm being a hater or too critical. While I haven't always felt this way. Reed convinced me this year that he can be a baller, top 3 receiving TE. Becoming a top 3 all around TE isn't out of the question either with some work and a can do attitude.

How Reed's 2015 season stacks up against other TEs who produced at a high level in 15. While not listed, Cincy's Eifert is the only TE who caught more TD passes than Reed with 13.
