Listening to Grant and Danny yesterday.

Alex made a dump off to Chris that resulted in some yards. Jay was livid and was explaining to Alex that he missed a guy downfield.

Alex reportedly looked at Jay and very calmly said, "I thought about it," and walked away.

This marriage is gonna get interesting. Lol

Jay the Arena league gunslinger vs. CDC as he is called on this board.

Grant and Danny debated whether Alex is the adult in the room, protecting the football and the lead, or is he really CDC.

No doubt, Alex will frustrate me from time to time this year. I'm expecting it. Soul crushing redzone interceptions frustrate me as well though.

Gruden bitched about Cousin's not throwing downfield enough. Cousin's responded by saying "I am a process oriented QB" He was bashed for that.

Exactly! Cousins used to get the wrap of wanting to protect his QBR at the expense of the team. Smith gets the wrap.of being conservative.

I do think Kirk would have found our WRs more than Alex did Sunday, but Alex made some plays too and seems unfazed by pressure.

I'm just glad we are 1-0. Jay is an aggressive guy. I like that about him.

This is game one In the new offense for smith . I would cut some slack

Pleas forward this to dean and mitz so they know what fair analysis means

Hahaha.....I'm not ragging on Smith. He got us a week one dub. I have always felt Kirk is a better passer than Alex. I do feel Alex is a little better moving around in the pocket and a little more trustworthy in a tight or big game.

How many long completions did Bree's have Sunday? I'd rather win

Smith can and will throw deep.

Tongue in cheek for sure but If Richardson doesn't get held I do believe he would've had a long TD catch I'm not concerned with Smith at all.

Well, He is going to have to start throwing it deeper soon. Defenses will start stacking the line to stop our run and RBs catching out of the backfield. Which means that he has got to look past them at the WRs. But sometimes Jay is too much a gun slinger, as mentioned above. Smith managed that game very well.

If we are talking about bashing from the fans & media - meh - that is going to happen & everyone is going to have their favorites & guys they don't like - pretty meaningless.

If we are talking about the players & coaches - again meh - this is normal in the NFL - we just don't have access to this info all the time. Just like in all of our jobs - things are said in the heat of the moment that are forgotten later or even where they might be followed up by apologies or similar. In the end both of these QBs have their strengths & weaknesses.

I (not we) was talking about how … many times Gruden was on Cousin's ass for not taking a shot downfield. My comment was well, it he was on Cousin's ass he will surely be on Smith's ass. Not sure what was hard to understand there.

A little perspective:

Patrick Ramsey was a gunslinger, until he got shellshocked behind horrific o lines.

Brunell was a gunslinger in Jax, but by the time he got here, he was mostly done with that (2 long bombs to Santana Moss to beat the cowboys not withstanding)

Jason Campbell was the real CDC, but he wasn't that accurate at doing even that, and checked it down enough to run himself out of the league

Kirk Cousins may have been protecting his stats, and might be "a process qb," but he was never nearly as accurate as Alex Smith is/was, and also takes more risks down the field. This leads to more big plays, and more interceptions.

Kirk Cousins ALSO will throw 3-4 absolutely boneheaded interceptions, often at the most inopportune times.

Alex Smith might be a CDC, but he's more accurate than Cousins, and throws deeper more often, and with more success than Jason Campbell.
He may not throw it down the field as often as KC, but he also doesn't have 3-4 absolutely boneheaded ints in his yearly repetoire either.

Alex Smith will be fine.............. until (unless?) we make the playoffs,
that is! :D

KC has been and always will be more accurate than AS. Try to back up your statement with actual facts.

Actually, most of KC interceptions were overblown because he needed to take chances. AS will need to take chances this season...I bet he won’t...and then you will be bitching about that.

NP. I like the Smith/Gruden relationship & I have no doubt that Gruden will ride his ass at times. I also have no doubt that Smith won't take it personally. I am sure that he has seen this before & he also appears to be the type that doesn't let much phase him. Please don't read this to mean that Cousins would act differently - I am sure that he was also fine with it.

Can't read all post on this but had AS threw downfield instead of the dump to Thompson and missed.. we be crying why didn't he dump to CT the dude had nothing but yards in front of him. We can second guess but the guy was wide open down the sideline... gotta see and make those throws. Plus, it's one less play that we could lose CT for the season on.
