Does anyone still feel that way? I thought it was rediculous to begin with but the guy has IU humming this year. Thoughts?

Yeah there was a bunch. I think Crean is an excellent coach.

It was definitely warranted with the way last year went and how the off season went. They are better this year, only because it was tough to be any worse. They have improved, and the B1G has declined this year. They are still a fringe top 25 team IMO. They will get into the dance but I don't see them making it past the first weekend.

I think it's funny that he's not still on the hot seat.

Considering all the trouble he's had with players off the court, the inability to keep players around (he's had a ton of transfers this season) I'm surprised getting them to be a borderline top 25 team (who's currently down to OSU) is enough to get him breathing room. If it was SMU or Memphis, I'd get it, but I though IU was trying to build a contender again. I still don't think Crean is that guy.

Heck, I remember when Duke fans wanted to fire Coach K a year after he got there.

I wish every team ran their offense. college bball game speed is at an all time low. everybody seems to love to dribble around for 20 seconds every possession without running any offense

True. It does make for much more entertaining games.

I remember very well the atmosphere at that time. Duke got blown out by Appalachian State. I believe Bobby Cremins was their coach then also. And I thought that Coach K might not be "that guy" to get Duke to a competitive level. What fools we were. And quite frankly, all fans are fools to start the blame game and toss a coach too early. Today, with redshirts , 1 and done to the NBA, and 5 year seniors, it just takes time to build a program. Any coach has his hands full when all fans, not just me, are anxious for championships.

and thank god AD didn't listen!

To me it seems like people easily want to throw the coach under the bus regardless of the talent on the court he has.

I remember Coach K saying part of the reason he never went to the NBA was his relationship with Tom Butters, Duke's long time Athletic Director.:agree:

If a school that is quickly losing blue blood status is satisfied with a coach who has 5 tourney wins in their last 12 seasons, that's their choice. As a Wisconsin fan, I love the fact that Crean is their coach. They aren't bad enough to be a train wreck, but they aren't good enough to be a consistent player at the top of the conference like OSU, MSU, Us, or Michigan.

If I were an Indiana fan, I'd want Crean gone. Maybe wait a year until Stevens is ready to leave Boston, but Harbaugh #3 is a head case without the results that would justify keeping a head case.

Yes, he's certainly after turning them around this year, be interesting to see how they do down the stretch.

I did not hear that but I am sure it is true. As far as I know they never had any bad words to say to one another.

We made a top 25 appearance this year. Woohoo. The only reason he's doing better than expected this year is because the B1G is down. He's like 20 games over .500 in his 7th season, it's time for him to go if we don't make a tourney run.

Yeah, I think this could be one of those "prolong the agony" seasons, where they do better than expected so he gets another year. The rest of the world might be a little higher on Crean right now, but the IU fans I know still want him gone.

Blackmon and Yogi need to shoot lights out in the second half to get back in this. Purdue is playing relatively good D but there won't be much of anything available in the paint...and crap, the
Boilermakers are even stretching the court some. Gotta get back in transition and slow that down.
