Racism is not a crime. Violence is, violence that they deem racist is a crime with a bigger punishment but racism by itself is not a crime.

If it were, then we would be one step closer to being able to legally punish stupidity.

The generic - apply to almost anything - word used is "harassment".

So maybe the act of being a racist is not "illegal". But you say anything that can be deemed racist (and therefore harassing) and that is usually perceived as illegal.

Yeah, I am just a stickler for semantics.

As far as the workplace goes racism is pretty much illegal. Or to be more succinct, racism itself isn't illegal but any manifested racism comment or action is a fire-able offense.

That's true. If they ever go for a job that does a background check they are screwed. Any government jobs are out the window.
