How are you surprised with the NMC? they come standard when you sign a contract with the Flyers...

And how does this spell the end of JvR? Next year we will lock him up, no biggie.

Will we have the room?

And what goalie is good for 9 years, let alone a 31 year old? I thought Homer knew that much...

At least we don't have Shea Weber signed at $7.5 million next season. That's just way, way too high of a cap hit for a defenseman that had 48 points and a +7 rating. I know he scores goals and he can really shoot it, but that is just a ridiculous number on your cap. We could easily get the same production or better out of Pronger this coming season and at less than a $5 million dollar cap hit.

Of course we'll have room. Carle and Coburn come off the books if not signed to extensions and obviously Jagr does as well. Besides, he's not going to be a huge cap hit anyway. Certainly no more than Giroux.

Now if he goes out and scores 40 goals this season, that may change slightly...lol

I am fucking disgusted with the NMC. Adios JVR.

haha 4706 i'm all for getting pissed at contracts and NMC, but that definitely doesn't make or break JvR negotiations.. in fact, i dont think it has any effect at all on them

JvR will be signed by January 2012 to a 2-4 year contract extension (whatever keeps him RFA at the end of it).. i'd stake quite a bit on it

Sign that 4 year contract. Fast forward 4 years. Bryz is still here.

weber 2011 >>> pronger 2011

That is true, but when you factor in the two teams these guys play on and the opportunities to put points on the board that they will each have, I'm confident that Pronger will be the better option for points assuming both players stay healthy.

I'd take that bet in a second, but it'd be null if either player misses a significant portion of the season.
