LOL, I haven't ever been too high or low on him but he has been producing for us. If he stays healthy and keeps it up will you change your tune? Or are you just kidding?

Yes, he was kidding.

But seriously, Moreland has always been productive when he (A) is healthy, and (B) when he uses the whole field.

Didn't even know the score until this morning. Got just enough to beat Gray, and again, starting pitching has been amazingly good.

And somewhat lucky. Nicky needed 100+ to get through 6 and got himself into some trouble a time or two.

Nick is an extremely mediocre pitcher who is inexplicably out pitching his peripherals. I got a hunch the second half may not be kind to him.

Indeed. I've seen him put together some pretty wild lineups but like you said they are winning games. If they can keep this up, it could be a really interesting season, especially as they start to get healthy.

Anyone think Odor will called back up at any point this season, or is it better for him to just finish it in the minors? Haven't kept much track of him since he went to the minors honestly.

Well, it's called the "law of averages avenges."

We knew going into the season he was a 4/5 type starter to begin with. But, he does seem like a kid with a high baseball IQ, so he may be able to stay ahead of the hitters as much as the hitters catching up to him.

We'll see.

Looking at the pitching matchups 17 - 20 June ...

17 June @ LAD Rodriguez versus Kershaw
18 June @ LAD Lewis versus Greinke
19 June @ CHW Martinez versus Sale
20 June @ CHW Gallardo versus Rodon

Gonna be an interesting next week. Whoever designed the travel plans should be shot.

I agree. There is something to be said about his command and presence on the hill. He's not afraid to after people and for the most part has worked ahead in the count. Not bad for a 24 year old with little expectations.

It's as exciting to watch as I can remember the last three weeks from a whole bunch of guys we had little expectations from. The stars have been aligned and it's fun to watch unfold.

My optimistic projections.

Kershaw will kill us. Greinke has been in the AL and is right handed. We've got guys who've seen him before. Sale is on another planet right now. I think we'll get some runs on Rodon the second time we've seen him this soon.

Realistically I'm expecting 1-3 with a win against Rodon.

I am going to have the same negative feelings about those 4 games as I had before last night's game and hope for the same positive results.

Will we have any of our RH bats back by then? And it sure seems like we have played a ton of road games.

See Feliz gave up a double, single, walk and 2 runs in 1 inning to take the loss.

To his credit he's been doing this for a while now, 16 out of 17 starts giving up 3 or fewer runs since last year

Martinez just may continue to surprise some folks. I don't think he has achieved the success he has so far by just being lucky. The kid is still learning and therefore is probably still getting better. He still has a good deal of upside left if he follows the learning curve most pitchers follow.

It sure seems to me that we are seeing the final days of Neftali Feliz.
The Teixeira trade is still a fantastic trade, but it sure has lost some of its luster the past 2-3 years.

I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Brutal.... Will be interesting to see if they can work counts and be smart like they did against Gray last night. At least the white sox have a shitty line up. As for the Dodgers? I'd gladly take a split.

I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I'd say that if it was just 5 starts or so, I don't think he's fully regressed to the norm, but I still think we're looking at a mid 3's ERA when its all said and done

Another start like his last one will do wonders for balancing things out

He still needs to work on a pitch that effectively finishes off hitters with 2 strikes, that's his biggest bugaboo right now, I'm thinking it might be a better changeup that does the trick
