Texas Rangers minor-league report | | Dallas Morning News

Worth noting from the Texas Rangers’ minor-league system on Sunday:

TRIPLE-A ROUND ROCK (35-21) allowed only three hits in a 6-0 win over Oklahoma City (Los Angeles Dodgers.) RHP Anthony Ranaudo allowed the hits but only one walk in seven innings. In his last five starts, Ranaudo is 4-1 with a 1.80 ERA and eight walks in 30 innings. Ranaudo also had seven strikeouts for the second consecutive start.

DOUBLE-A FRISCO (23-33) gave up 10 outs on strikeouts in a 2-1 loss at Tulsa (Los Angeles Dodgers.) CF Jake Skole had three of the strikeouts in a 0-for-5 performance. Skole, the 15th overall selection in the 2010 draft, has 12 strikeouts in his last 21 at-bats.

HIGH-A HIGH DESERT (29-26) took only one walk in a 6-4 loss in 13 innings at San Jose (San Francisco.) 3B Ryan Cordell went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs. Cordell is tied for fifth in the California League for homers with 11 and tied for the league lead in RBIs with 50.

LOW-A HICKORY (36-20) had four pitchers combine for 10 strikeouts in a 5-3 win at Lakewood (Philadelphia.) RHP Ariel Jurado had six strikeouts in five scoreless innings to keep a perfect record. Jurado, 19, is 8-0 with a 2.09 ERA for 56 innings. He has allowed only seven walks for the season.

Which is why I say Skole should not even be in AA.

From what I read, he normally wrapped the leg after the game - you know, the one he played in and got hurt - but he failed to do so on this occasion.

He didn't get hurt sitting on the bench.

Correct, he tweaked it going after a ball in the corner a game or so prior. (per his words)
So not wrapping it on his "day off" seems kinda :noidea: to me.

I forget who initially reported it - one of the beat writers.

Sorry if I'm belaboring this, but I could've sworn he didn't wrap it after the game - per his own admission - which was his custom. Now, I don't have a clue if that made shit-to-shineola, as far as his injury. But I do know he deviated from his routine.

And in my mind, I'd hoped Hamilton would do everything possible to stay healthy, without someone sitting next to him and tying his shoes.

Since he had an MRI and this was read/interrupted by a professional, I'm assuming Josh had little to do with it.

That said, if he could have done something to help his hamstring to begin with, is another matter. You know, something complicated like, wrapping your leg.

And it has struck me as odd how little was made of the fact he apparently didn't wrap it, like he was accustomed to doing. Now, IMO, this is BS when a 30 year old man has to be reminded to wash behind his ears, eat all your vegetables, and oh yeah, wrap your leg.
Eat your vegetables? Oops!

Might be time to see what Cordell can do outside of the hitter friendly California League

They might only be waiting to promote Jurado b/c they don't want to promote him to High Desert, they will make sure he's ready at Hickory and jump High A ball all together and straight into AA

And with all the talent in AA, its amazing they've been so bad, its mostly bad pitching across the board, luckily Thompson has been pitching well recently.... Asher hasn't been terrible just up and down, and Frank Lopez looks like a keeper as well

Living where I do, the only sports station I can pick up while driving is 105.3. And what a piece of crap station it is.

When we originally got Hamilton back, their morning crew went to great lengths to say things like, "maybe we'll have Bible Day at the park" and "his walk-up music will be some choir." It was way over the top and disrespectful.

Y'all remember a few weeks ago when there was an armed robbery at a jewelry store? The Dallas police closed some mall parking lot, or some such. Anyway, that fucking egg-brain Chris Arnold tries to turn this dangerous situation into a joke, by asking, "Who you cheering for?" Much laughter to be had and witting banter followed.

A few days ago, the morning crew was chatting up - for almost a 1/2 hour - a web site promoting grandmothers looking for sex.

Don't they have a program director? They have a bunch of mouth dogs who need to be put back on the verbal lease.
That is probably my least favorite sports radio station in the area for that very reason. The Ben and Skin show is decent because those guys are informed and can present their opinions well. They are not nearly as good on that station as they were on 103.3 though. When they were on ESPN radio their show was 90% sports and only 10% nonsense. Over at 105.3 it is more like 50-50, but that is still better than it was when they were on The Ticket. I get so tired of 105.3 and all of their over-cussing and over-sexed talk. It is even worse than the entertainment world driven conversation on The Ticket.

I think the second pick they make will be about 9:40 tonight.
Hope one of those pitchers who had TJ surgery will still be there, Aiken and Metuello. Though I sincerely doubt.

Beltre doesn't deserve it. Prince does. He'll get in one way or the other.

actually this makes it sound like he wraps it during the game:

He second-guessed himself for aggravating a tight hamstring.

''Everything in me said, ''You should probably wrap your leg,'' he said. ''And it's like, no, I don't need to wrap it. It will be good for one at-bat. It''s a lesson learned.''

Thanks for clearing this up for us. I couldn't remember exactly what he said nor the circumstances.

It's shameful.

But, ya know, a lot of teams do this crap.

I can remember back in the day and Chuck Morgan encouraging all "attendees" to be sure and vote for Mickey Rivers, and all the Rangers.

That was pretty shameful to me at the time.

As long as any teams are doing it they all have to if their guys are to have a chance. They should make it much harder to vote like it was in the 70s or else ensure that everyone only gets one vote. I remember having to go to the local Skillern's drug store to get a ballot from the Gillette display if I wanted to vote. lol
