Refs are out of control

3 twenty five yards or more TDs were taken from the Eagles tonight. Fucking 3... come on. And the Steeler got burned a lot too on ticky tac/invisible calls. Stooooooopid!

I'm not too worried...I think they're just trying to set the tone in the preseason games...the NFL is prefect for TV because of the built in breaks for commercials and barring OT, they typically finished within their 3 hr time slot... come regular season if these games are going over 3 hrs, the refs will be holding on to some of those flags.

Everyone connected to the NFL, even former refs, admit that this won't happen in the regular season. Players will adjust...officials will adjust. There might be a little more flags than normal, but I wouldn't think that much.

it is a waste of time. the players aren't going to adjust. they will keep doing what they have been doing their entire career until the league buckles from the negative press it is already receiving.

Of course they will. Some of them already have. In the Broncos/49ers game, not a single penalty was called while the starters were playing (2 series for each team). This was just a week after the Broncos had numerous fouls called on their secondary in their first preseason game.

I watched 3 tds get called back in that game because of the "emphasis". the one illegal pick on the Denver td was the only legit penalty. using 4 series as an example isn't enough evidence that players are adjusting

NFL again is asking the impossible with no contact rule ... I mean HOW MUCH can this league take away from the defense before the entire game is just unbearable to watch... I hate watching football where the teams just run up and down the field on each other with little resistance... It's just not fun to watch... The greatest teams in NFL history that stand out in my mind are the ones with the great defenses... Again HOW much can you take from a defense and still have a good balanced fun game of football... NFL is going to far with this BS... All indications say there taking this to the regular season... We'll find out soon enough..

A few years back now, after the Patriot DB's were too physical for the Colts WR's, the illegal contact rule was put into place/enforced more. Since then, defensive players have adjusted. Good defense is still being played.

Now with this rule, defenses will continue to adjust. I think the officials will adjust to the rules, too.

Let's not exaggerate. There were two touchdowns called back by penalty, both on Denver, both on the same series, both pretty obvious calls, and both by guys that are major longshots to make the team.

I think penalty free series from the starters is evidence that they are starting to adjust. You can't extrapolate preseason penalties on guys that probably won't make the team into the regular season.

disagree strongly... Holding was already called just fine and now there emphasizing the no contact rule which is total BS ... Putting out a feeler while covering a receiver is natural for any db in the game, they all do it and it doesn't affect a route unless the db holds or hooks... That should be called not a simple touch foul... Ridiculous.

Agreed. They're calling incidental contact that doesn't affect the receiver's route at all.

LOL watching the Bears Seahawks right now the offenses are basically unstoppable... db's are playing SO passive in coverage expecting a flag... You might as well just pass the ball dam near every down... This is disgusting to watch and were winning 14-0 so it's not like I'm being a sour puss.... I just don't like the way the game is being played.... @#$^@#$^ NFL you tick me off...
