We need someone to stop gap that huge hole in the middle of our defense. At least management is trying to address glaring issues. Next will be addressing the play calling issues hopefully.

If they look halfway decent, I might sign both of them and try to sneak Lanier and Ioannidis on to the practice squad.

Gotta wonder if the cluster headaches have been an ongoing issue for Pot Roast.

Mike Jones...

Team officials planned to work both players out and could wind up signing at least one.

Knighton spent the 2015 season with Washington, but the team let him depart via free agency although the player — a fan favorite, nicknamed “Pot Roast” — wanted to remain with the team. Knighton struggled to keep his weight under control and played at around 400 pounds last season. He signed with the New England Patriots, but didn’t survive roster cuts following the preseason. Redskins players have lobbied for the re-signing of Knighton. But team officials hadn’t made the move.

However, with Washington ranked last in the NFL, giving up an average of 5.1 yards per rushing attempt, team officials are considering bringing Knighton back. Two people familiar with the situation said that Knighton has lost weight and now weighs around 365, which could help his stamina and effectiveness.

Taylor didn’t play last season after suffering a knee injury in training camp of 2015 with the Denver Broncos. The 6-foot-3, 335-pound Taylor was a first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns out of Baylor in 2011. (He initially played for Penn State with Redskins defensive end Chris Baker, but both got dismissed from the program). Taylor spent four seasons with Cleveland before signing with Denver in the offseason of 2015. For his career, he has 109 tackles and seven sacks.

The Redskins on Sunday gave up 128 yards to the Baltimore Ravens and haven’t held a team under 100 yards in five games this season.

How in the world does an NFL player (w/ access to just about any type of exercise equipment, dieticians, trainers & the time to workout) balloon up to 400 lbs? It just doesn't make any sense or shows a lack of discipline. This type of thing has also resulted in early death or a life of constant medical issues once these guys stop playing football.

Good to see that Pot Roast has this somewhat under control regardless of whether he plays again for the Redskins.

I will take a chance on Phil Taylor. We had Pot Roast last season and were abysmal...what makes anybody think he is an upgrade? Phil Taylor on the other hand has me curious.

[QU="gkekoa, post: 9042076, member: 5837"]How about we let Ioannidis continue to improve? He was on the PS and brought up. Give it time. Pot Roast and Taylor are available for a reason.[/QUOTE]
He can continue to improve and develop on the practice squad

It's not all on the d line. One of those big runs yesterday was on Ihenacho. Cooley has said the ILBs are filling the wrong gaps and overall, the tackling has been horrendous. I think
....or hope Whitner can help solve or eliminate some of the big runs we are giving up.
