$21 million comes off the dead cap hit after 2024.

This is more than a re-calibrate. The four highest paid guys on the team are Allen, Payne, McLaurin and Wylie. They took a big dead cap hit on Leno and Gates just to get rid of them. Next highest pain guy is Armstrong.

That leaves guys who would add to the dead cap hit like Davis, Dotson, Forbes and Martin. They could cut Cosmi but I am sure they want to keep him.

I don't know if there are 10 other guys they want to keep but some will stay because they need to fill out a roster.

I see what you are saying and agree mostly.

Not to beat a dead horse but I still think we need to sign a free agent to play RT and draft a LT.

I do like Smith.

However, the numbers show that he cannot stay healthy. It's sad because he is elite.

To me, I would rather roll the dice with a rookie LT in early round 2 than gamble on a player who is getting up there in age and cannot stay on the field.
If Smith took a cheaper deal, then yes, but I am guessing he wants a final payday. He has earned it IMO.

I don't think he can ask or get big money b/c of his age and injury history. Im still taking an OT in round 2 even if we sign Smith. If Peters plan is to roll with a rookie LT Week 1 that is a huge ask, to protect this main draft pick i would have thought he would want a vet there.

I think I said the same thing. I don’t feel that way now though
Exactly. No way Ben Johnson or MacDonald put together a staff like this. I'm not saying Ben or MacDonald would have been bad hires. Just saying Quinn wasn't a bad hire either.

It's like I told you, we get some right and we get some wrong. Still have to get on the field to see how it all comes together but I am encouraged.
Oh yeah. I feel much better today than I did when I posted that. Ben Johnson felt like boom or bust. He strikes me as a guy that could be the next Sean McVay or a guy that we quickly find out can't command a locker room.

I feel safe with Quinn and safe isn't a bad thing.

It's always interesting and entertaining rereading some of the old threads. My favorites are those related to the draft, new management, those that I've started, and of course anything where Kirk Cousins is mentioned! (Sike!) :pound::D
