Are the sharks at the contract limit? Could be the reason a player had to be moved too.

hmm.. more to the deal?

@JeffMarek
DET trades Brad Stuart to SJ for Andrew Murray + cond pick in '14. Stuarts family stayed in SJ when he went to DET from LA.

why would SJ give up assets for a guy who only wants to go one place, and will be a UFA in a month?:confused2:

Sharks are at the 50 contract limit so moving Murray, who wasn't going to be part of the organization next year anyways, helps the Sharks with some flexability to make moves prior to July 1st. The conditional pick is a 7th in 2014 so not a big loss.

Most likely Wilson wanted to know where he stood with Stuart so he'd have a better idea of his defensive group prior to the draft. If Stuart is signed that opens up the possibility of moving Demers, Bruan, or Murray.

It wasn't a guarantee that Stuart was going to San Jose, there were rumblings of LA or Anaheim as well.

Wings should be very pleased to rid themselves of the overrated Brad Stuart...

Apparently the Wild have no more d-men worthy of a roster spot on the Sharks. Only explanation.

I think it's going to be boring come July first. There doesn't seem to be a lot of good FA's out there.

Edit: Someone posted the link with the names I need to dig it up.

Good luck Stuey. Thanks for your services. I know a lot of wingnuts still dog you for a couple plays here and there, but fuck 'em. It hurts when you lose your leader in hits and in blocked shots, no matter what team your talking about.

brad stuart was the missing piece in 2008 that put us over the top and got us a cup. for that, i am forever grateful

however it's been very clear that the last 2 years stuart has lost a step, most notably in his skating.

that said, the wings are going to miss his physical presence. hopefully kenny can sign someone like jackman to replace that physical presence that they need on the blueline

Not to mention he was our second-best goaltender on the team! How many goals did he prevent when the puck was in the crease and about to go in? I want to say at least five times...
