Bobby Parnell is the closer for the Mets

He may be middle relief in Boston, but he's more than that for the Mets and probably why they want more
Maybe...but Closer's really don't have much value on a losing team. They Have a higher Priority to fix their offense than keep a good closer...

He is going to be Arb 2 this winter... So they have 2 more years of Control after this year.

This is where I guess it could Hurt to have a strong farm system, and also think your a piece or 2 from possibly winning a title

These teams, at least early on are gonna be looking for the Sox blue chippers

Gotta think the Tigers and Sox are gonna be targeting a lot of the same guys

Yep...and the good thing? The Sox system is significantly better than the Tigers right now...they don't need to include their top tier guys to blow away a tigers offer, one of the worst systems in all of baseball...they strip mined it the past couple of years getting guys like Sanchez, Scherzer etc...

Sox just need to be patient...wait until the dust settles and see what's left...don't over react and over pay and they'll be fine...

down, i saw last week middlebrooks had 8 RBI thru like 5 inings in pawtucket. what did he finish with that game? has he continued raking?

He finished with 8 RBI, 2 HR's...

He's got a .975 OPS in AAA now...some of that is from his rehab down there last month...

It wouldn't surprise me if his name starts getting floated in rumors again...he's raking in AAA...and has earned some of his value back...a possibility...but the return has to be significant or it's worth it to hang on to him and let him regain all his value...

In return, Boston received a trio of prospects and Loui Eriksson, a forward that Beers says “does everything right” and should fit in very well in the Bruins’ system.
“You’re trading a possible super star in the making for a known commodity and a very stable guy in Eriksson — a consistent goal-scorer, but not only that, he does everything right,” Beers said of the new B’s forward. “He gives you that stability, and they will play him in all sorts of situations; you can play him with (David) Krejci, with (Patrice) Bergeron, on the right wing. Where he fits in remains to be seen, but you know what you are going to get from him; you are going to get a professional that plays in all kinds of situations, and a guy that is going to be a consistent type of player and focus on the game.”

I know he's a closer for the mets...and he'd likely be the closer here...but he doesn't have a long track record of closing, they aren't trading Papelbon...they're trading a guy with what 25 career saves?

Again...I like him, but not at a huge cost...2 mid tiers from this system should be plenty for a guy like him...

Xander update:

After a slow start in his AAA debut (slow in all things but HR's), he's settled in and has shown something he was desperately lacking in past seasons. Plate discipline...

He's hitting .262/.361/.440 for the year in AAA, but in his past 10 games? .313/.450/.406...yes, that's a .450 OBP, with 8 BB's and 5 K's in those 10 games...the power looks like its coming along too after hitting his 5th AAA HR (in just 23 games) last night.

With this added plate discipline? There's a very real chance he's going to achieve every bit of his lofty ceiling...with Drew on the DL? They HAVE to be tempted to bring him up for a look at him...but they will (and should) wait until September so it doesn't eat into his service time.

I saw a guy out in Kansas when I was stationed there...he had a little Nissan Sentra in the burn out competition...everyone was laughing when he pulled up because it looked like a complete piece of shit...

He started his burnout, jammed the accelerator to the floor, locked his E-brake...jumped on the roof of the car and was jumping up and down on it untill the blew out both front tires and started grinding down his rims...

Turns out he had a tricked out z300 motor in it...something like 410 horse..SICK...

What in the hell is going on in Cleveland?

Jimmy Haslam, whose Pilot Flying J company is under a federal investigation into alleged rebate fraud and reportedly has $4 billion in debt, told ESPN Cleveland he will not be selling the Cleveland Browns.

"Absolutely not. We plan on owning the Browns for a long time." he told ESPN Cleveland in a telephone interview.

Haslam has been doing furious damage control since the April 15 raid on company headquarters and the subsequent release of an FBI affidavit with transcripts of secretly recorded conversations among the sales staff. Federal agents say the conversations outline a scheme to defraud trucking companies of fuel rebates.

Five members of the sales staff have pleaded guilty to mail fraud and are cooperating with prosecutors, as are two further current and former Pilot staffers.

A source told ESPN Cleveland that the Browns have a "plan in place" to maintain Haslam's ownership of the team if he is indicted in the FBI's investigation. When asked about this, Haslam said, "I don't want to answer any legal questions."

The Wall Street Journal reported last month that Pilot Flying J now has $4 billion in debt, which prompted speculation that Haslam would look to sell the Browns. He refused to comment on the newspaper's story when asked about it by ESPN Cleveland, but instead emphasized how much money he has invested into the Browns, including $5 million to remodel the team's facilities and a planned $100 million investment to remodel the team's stadium.

"Since October, we put together a completely new front office, hired a new head head coach with two really good coordinators, sold naming rights to the stadium, and went through free agency and the draft," Haslam told ESPN Cleveland.

Haslam and his brother, Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, announced last week that they are selling their minor league baseball team, the Tennessee Smokies. Randy Boyd, the CEO of Knoxville-based Radio Systems Corporation and a top education adviser to Gov. Haslam, is buying the Chicago Cubs' Double-A Southern League affiliate.

"It does have something to do with Cleveland in that we're obviously going to be spending more time there," Jimmy Haslam told the Knoxville News-Sentinel last week. "But I think the reality is the entire partnership group had owned the team for 12 years and felt like it was time for new ownership."
