This is what we are looking forward to this week with probably nothing really on the line...

If Burrow, Chase and Higgins can get these numbers:

Burrow 29 for 40, 359 yards, 3TD's and 0 INT's
Chase 8 for 138 yards and 2 TD's
Higgins 11 for 142 and no TD's

They will have these season numbers:

Burrow 70% completion percentage for 5000 yards passing, 45 passing TD's, and will push his streak of 250+ yards / 3TD's to 9 games (all will be Bengals records)
Chase will have 125 catches for 1750 yards and 18 TD's (all will be Bengals records)
Higgins will have 80 catches for 1000 yards and 10 TD's

That is one hell of a successful season for these three.

If I were to give you those numbers back in August, what would you figure our record would be? You'd have to figure 11-5 at the worst, right? I'd say 13-3 right now with those numbers. Back in August the biggest question for the Bengals was whether Burrow would be healthy enough to put up good passing numbers. I don't think anyone figured the D would be top 10, but I also don't think anyone assumed it would be historically bad. Such a strange, wasted season.

Really would be cool for Chase to get the triple crown of receiving.

If Chase finishes the regular season as the leader in all three categories, he'll be the fifth player since 1970 to do so, joining the Los Angeles Rams' Cooper Kupp in 2021, the Carolina Panthers' Steve Smith in 2005, the San Francisco 49ers' Jerry Rice in 1990 and the Green Bay Packers' Sterling Sharpe in 1992.

That would be pretty rare air.

no doubt we surely have talented players. if not for the early season slothfulness among other things, we'd be in the playoffs for sure.

No surprise: Chase, Burrow, Trey all named to the Pro-bowl - which Chase and Trey as starters.

Brown 2nd alternate - if he had started all year, it would have been interesting to see where he would have landed.

Orlando Brown Jr - 4th alternate.

yea... our coaches decision to start zach moss over Brown is proof that they don't understand what the hell is going on.

I think what it points to - and this has been an MO under Taylor - is a long string for guys with "experience" or "their guy" when it's pretty obvious that the player isn't all that great.

We can talk about Moss/Brown, but this also goes towards a few other players. Pretty clear last year that Scott was abysmal. Took most of the year to finally see him benched. We watched this year as Bell came in and replaced Battle, who did play well last year. He wasn't good. Battle took a bit to get going, but has been one of the better graded Safeties over the last 4-5 weeks. We can look at Volston who has just been abjectly bad at IOL - he finally got benched a few weeks ago for Ford, then Brown got hurt and he was back and not doing well...and then Brown came back, but Ford also really struggled in that Denver game (though credit to Denver's DL - they are a wrecking crew).

Quite frankly, Cappa hasn't been very good, either. Nor Hubbard. Honestly, despite the tackle totals - Pratt has really struggled in several areas of the defense - and in some pure passing downs, he's not been on the field lately - which is something that probably should have started sooner.

I know there is a fine line to walk between giving a guy enough room to ensure the results are the results, and just yo-yo-ing guys in/out of the lineup - which is also bad...but I feel like under Taylor the rope is a bit too long at times...even if it's a planned thing - for a few snaps here/there to ensure we see what the backup/next guy is going to do...but letting guys roll out there and suck for 6-7-8 games when their history hasn't shown that much (Volson, Scott), or they are clearly on the edge of decline (Hubbard, Cappa, Pratt, Bell) is something this staff struggles with.

Hard to believe that Patrick Mahomes has played an entire season and is not elected to the pro bowl. He obviously doesn't have a case when you look at the numbers of Allen, Burrow, and Jackson, but I just never thought I'd see the day - Or at least didn't think we'd see it until he was in his later 30s. There are some phenomenal quarterbacks in the AFC..... And now you have Mahomes in the playoffs with a chip on his shoulder. This will be interesting.
