Refresh my memory, was it the Bruins players telling the media that the Habs just "run their mouths" all the time, or something to that effect? Now they're disputing the severity of an injury that their guy wasn't even suspended for?

Mike Babcock is glaring at the Bruins now, I take it.

Yeah, but you also said your are "at" instead of "going to" the game, so I kinda think you are sitting in your seat in a dark arena on your cell phone... just waiting.

Anybody have any ideas for things Sly can do to entertain himself in the meantime?

what these players get as for as speedy recovery, compared to andys baseball coach are worlds apart as far as the docs and technology...so him coming back for the the playoffs is not out of the question.....but does not put it past me that they over reacted about the injury...

I think the big part that caused a big reaction from Habs fans is that they don't know anything about vertebral fractures or injuries. I mean, if you go up to Joe Schmoe on the street and say 'I think I broke my neck' he thinks you're gonna die, or be paralyzed for the rest of your life. That's just the perception surrounding the injury. So, when the Habs said non-displaced fracture of C4, your average Habs fan freaked out thinking his career was over and he was near death, when in reality it was probably just a minor fracture that just needs time to heal.

similar to when the Avs GM Pierre Lacriox came out and said Steve Moore had a broken neck

Right. They have to be careful about how they word these things because it can lead to major over reactions in an uneducated fan base. It's a thin line however, because player privacy sneaks in, so can't just be telling the specifics of an injury in a press conference. But think about even comparing those two injuries...clearly they are on two different planes, but for fans they were interpreted similarly at first.

and he was pilloried after he (Lacriox) made those broken neck comments because media went to doctors after the fact and asked them what a "transverse process" fracture was

i dont think you can just chalk it up to an uneducated fan base ... its media manipulation to create a knee jerk public reaction right after a serious looking visual that looks almost deadly

so in some respects I kinda agree with Recchi ... Habs were looking to get the big ogre on a divisional rival suspended ... just like Lacroix wanted Bertuzzi to go away for a very long time

At least in that interview the fractured vertebrae diagnosis is not what Recchi feels the Habs mislead about, he feels they misled about the concussion because Max went to the movies five days later.

"Well obviously, yeah. When there's an injury … he does obviously have a fractured vertebrae, but the concussion was obviously, really a non-factor."

Looking at that hit, and the fact that it seemed he lost consciousness, he most definitely had a concussion. There's no denying that. He may be a quicker healer than most when it comes to brain injuries...who knows.

I'm sorry but these two teams need to face each other in the playoffs. It has the potential to be one the most violent, hate filled series of all time.

They should allow 3 on 1 and 4 on 1 fights for that series. I would love to see Squid, Gionta, Gomez and another Habs garden gnome take on Chara at the same time.
