Realignment coming in 2012 - The solution

So with recent talks about realignment coming in 2012...this is the obvious solution to realignment that the nhl should use.


Eastern Conferance gets 16 teams

Atlantic Division
Bruins
Islanders
Rangers
Devils

North East Division
Canadians
Maple Leafs
Senators
Sabres

North Central Division
Red Wings
Blue Jackets
Flyers
Pengiuns
Capitals

Southern Division
Predators
Hurricans
Panthers
Lightning





Western Conferance gets 14 teams

Central Division
Wild
Blues
Stars
Blackhawks
Jets

South West Division
Avs
Kings
Ducks
Coyotes

North West Division
Canucks
Oilers
Flames
Sharks


For Playoff Purposes each conferance still gets 8 teams in.

Yes the conferances are not equal in terms of number of teams per conferance. If they want equal conferances, then the nhl should find sutiable western cities and owners to purchase and relocate the predators to the north west division by 2012.

8 of 14 gets in from the west is not very fair to the teams in the east.

might not be "fair" to the teams..but if detriot and columbus want to move that's the price.

Also my math is flawed. There are way to many teams on east coast side of map then on west coast.

Right now it's actually 17 east and 13 west.

NHL could always find an owner in Seattle and move Florida there and then maybe find an owner and city for preds, like perhaps Portland.

Then keep it at 3 divisions with 5 each.

I think thats just a band aid, the travel for teams from the central is pretty brutal.
