About half that list isnt a threat to Conners. A couple others are, meh, kinda sorta, and those dudes are likely day 3 type dudes, wouldn't be too concerned, depth/competition to Samuels maybe. They'd have to go after Akers or Taylor, MAYBE Dobbins, for me to say Conners is in real trouble.

Id add Edwards-Helaire as well.

I know many love the guy, I don't see it. I don't consider him a threat to any starter's job.
In a straight up competition ai think Conners could blow him away easily

True, but my point was simply that 32 year old RBs don’t crank out stats like that unless the team is a RBs dream... a Pittsburgh is just that...
keep in mind that line is somewhat of transition, and munchak is gone......

those in pgh know that munchak was a MAJOR part of our line and run game success for years and MAJOR loss...

yes sir!

You know who else ran a 4.6 at the combine?...

...ahem.... LeVeon Bell.

I get that Edwards-Helaire isn’t/wasn’t 6’1” 230lbs though ...

Point is, yes... RBs with that 40 time HAVE succeeded... In fact... EXACTLY where we are discussing.. ;)

I feel the need to add that for the vast majority of DWill's career he was in a straight up split for touches with JStew, only eclipsing 220 carries once. So not exactly the same 32 year old RB as most...and with 2 thousand yard seasons under his belt, not the typical backup either.

Not trying to overly diminish the vuanted Steelers rushing attack, but DWill is more of an exception than the rule. I'd be pointing to mediocre talents like Mendenhall or Isaac Redman stepping in and doing well. Just my two cents

While I understand, it isn’t like we’re talking about a 29-30 year old... DWill was 32.... I know he split time, but it isn’t like he’s Darren Sproles either.

yes, and a 6th round qb has in fact been the GOAT.

Doesnt change the fact that its not likely........

If he wasnt on LSU, he wouldnt be a thing..........

yeah and look at his career numbers, not as much wear and tear as ppl think

he only eclipsed 200 carries twice

“Guys with that time just don’t succeed.”...

... Only they do! In the exact slot and team we are discussing!

Haha, no, definitely not like Sproles.
But honestly though, when he came to Pitt, he had less than 1500 career carries. When the typical RB who, "when you hit thirty, your done", generally is getting that many carries with their first 6 years, or less, and are nearing 3000 carries by the time they're thirty. The dude had tons less wear and tear than the typical " 30 year old and done" RB. Just saying, he had plenty of tread left when he got there. And was a damned fine RB to start with

1 of how many........

i know its not much, but 4.6 is usually the cutoff for "success" not that it cant happen, it can, but the odds are against it......

its like the wr whose 6'4 but runs a 4.75

Well there’s more than one, I’d imagine. But again, the point I’m making is that it isn’t just ANY back we are referring to... It is THE back in THE spot with THE team we are all talking about...

I don’t believe Bell suddenly sucks. He just isn’t in Pittsburgh anymore! ;)

10 time matter a lot more than the 40 for RBs, but here are some recent 4.6 or slower

Leveon Bell - 4.60
Carlos Hyde - 4.62
Kareem Hunt - 4.62
Josh Jacobs - 4.60
James Conner - 4.65
David Montgomery - 4.63
Devin Singletary - 4.66
Alexander Mattison - 4.67
Mark Ingram 4.62
Jeremy Hill 4.66
