He can easily get a 1-2 year suspended sentence & 5 years of probation if he has no priors & takes a deal. It doesn't matter if he has money or not, that is the likely outcome for a first offense. I had similar charges against me stemming from a bar fight in 2005 & that was the outcome after I took a plea.

We have no proof yet, but the way he dragged HIS FIANCE out of the elevator like she was a piece of shit, it doesn't look good for him.

Agree with this. At least turn her over gently, try to sit her up. Of course he would not do that if he just knocked her out, because only an animal would strike a woman. It looks like he was dragging a bag of shit out of the elevator and realized he was in the lobby or whatever, and said whoops, now what do I do, he looked ready to bolt and leave her there.

Might not end well but depending on NJ law she might not be compelled to testify against her husband exceptions do exist and I'm not an attorney even though I did stay at a Holiday inn Express last month :)

This what I was thinking when I heard this news. But it all could be for not if the rumor/report that police/DA have a copy of the full video of the assault is true. They wouldn't need her testimony.

I am not a lawyer but I know there is no way "a punch" where there was no bodily damage (meaning no battery) is going to lead to a conviction in Criminal Court. The fact that they even tried to say it was aggravated assault is laughable. A punch, no matter how strong you are, is not the use of a deadly weapon against a grown adult. Especially when it results in no injury. The only thing that could happen to him is if she sued him in a civil suit, but they said she dropped all charges. And therefor, even if somehow she was forced to testify against him in a easy defense criminal case, she is on his side anyway (probably for the money).

Ofcourse Ray Rice is a scumbag for punching a woman (especially your own fiancee) but lets be honest, he is not going to jail for this.

The courts no longer let a guy walk because his girl dropped charges or refused to testify.
Not only that but you cannot refuse to testify to a Grand Jury. You have very little of your constitutional rights in a Grand Jury trial. Answer the questions or go to jail.

I'd bet all my vcash on him going to jail.....

Odds are, that's why he did it. Now she can't be forced to testify.

They may still be able to prosecute depending upon what the footage shows, but she doesn't have to be part of it - and considering the fat wad of cash she just got for being his wife, she wont.

She's laying up for the future.

If he hits her again (and he probably will) she can sue him for divorce and take half his money, the house, cars, alimony etc. Judges have little sympathy for wife beaters.

You are right that she would be forced to testify to a federal grand jury. But his actions do not support even having a federal grand jury. What he did was simple assault 101 (a misdemeanor). I can't tell you how many times a dude gets in a fight at a bar and knocks the shit out of someone (sometimes a woman) and they don't get indicted on aggravated assault. This is cuz he is famous, nothing more, nothing less.

BTW, I would like a lil bet on that with your virtual cash, but it prolly isn't too much.

It is a grand jury indictment - she CAN be forced to testify.....
If he did not talk to his attorney first, by now the attorney has told him: "hey, you spent half my money!"
