Andrej Mjhgjhjhd is a nice add. As is signing Coburn. I would have liked Carbomb and Powe back but oh well. I wish we got a tender, too. Jody Shelly makes me angry but the D we have now looks beautiful.

I'd give Pittsburgh a B+. Can't give them an A. Gonchar was a vital piece of this puzzle, and letting him walk is certainly a risk.

But, considering the type of players that Shero replaced Gonchar with mere hours after he left just shows that the front office had this very well orchestrated. Letting a 36 year old, future HOF'er walk is a difficult choice to make, but ultimately, I think it was the right one.

What grade does non-existant get?

We did not overpay for the hot commodity (6 foot, 200 pound tweener defensemen this year). We let the dust settle and we will now likely add a piece or two at a reduced rate. We bank the caps space and make the moves, if needed, when it counts most...in the season and on into March. We will literally have a bottomless pot of cap space then and some big name guys will be there (Markov, Richards) This was not a free agent class to get super excited about, as I have said time and again.

We blew away the regular season with this roster.
We outplayed and outshot a team that beat us in a 7 game series in the playoffs because of a hot goaliu and a lot of 1 goal games.

We needed to not overreact, and we didn't.

i give the flyers a B+. i like the addition of meszaros. i knew we would go after a defenseman although they always seem to get guys i do not expect. i even like the o donnell signing since i think he is better than krejicek. this gives us arguably the best defense. i also like that they re signed coburn. i knew they would not re sign asham although i did like him.

the reason they did not get an A was because of the shelley deal. overpaid and not necessary.

I don't disagree, was expecting GMGM to wait. I could have seen us make a trade, but that's about it. You're right, we, more than likely, did the right thing by doing nothing.
