All things considered, I don't feel bad about my 37-16 prediction. The overall stats paint a perfect picture of what should have displayed on the scoreboard once you average out these 2 games. Yes there was a 1st half game and a 2nd half game. A 1st half Nebraska and a 2nd half Nebraska if you will.
The intangibles (fuck-ups) are difficult to predict, and (week in and week out) I tend to give Nebraska the benefit of the doubt that they'll eventually fix them. Unfortunately I'm beginning to lose faith in my hopes and will put more weight into that for next weeks tOSU prediction and into the future. It has become a Pelini signature.
The usual turnovers and penalties this team commits in big games is frustrating as hell. Bo is 'obviously' not a good pre-game locker room coach.
Give Enunwa the late catch and take away 14 handed to Wisky and I would have been real close on my 21 point spread.
Wisconsin played near perfect in the turnover/penalty department.
Fumbles - 1 (miscommunication fumble (Ball) on their last offensive possession)
Penalties - 2 for 15 yds
Nebraska
Penalties 6 for 70 yds
Fumbles 'Lost' 2 - One by Burkhead on own 23 (result TD), One forced by Gilbert on NU 13(result TD)
Other NU fumbles not lost. At least 2 dropped INT's by NU. Missed FG. Roughing the Kicker extending Wisky possession (result TD)
Nebraska went 4 of their first 5 possessions without a 1st down.
Maher
Punts - Solid A.
Kickoffs - Solid A
FG missed was 52 yds.
Nebraska was the superior team on the football field, but you'd never know it by the score.
First downs - NU 24-17
Total yds - NU 440-295
Rushing yds - NU 259- 56 (to be fair Ball had 90yds, but cut down by sacks)
Passing yds - Wisc 239 - 181
Can't wait to break down tOSU game. I will probably spot them 17 points before I even begin to look at #'s. Given that I still don't expect NU to get blown out.
