Would not be to interested in signing Soto more than a year with the surgeries he had.
I can agree with that since we have some guys at AAA and AA (Alfaro of course) coming along.

Me too but ankle and knee surgery on a catcher is easy to pass by.I can understand if a person is not a fan of Soto but I actually like him behind the plate.
There was an interesting mention of Soto on mlbtraderumors.com when then were mentioning the lack of catchers in this coming free agency period.
"Now that Kurt Suzuki has signed an extension with the Twins, there won’t really be any other starting catchers on the free agent market, unless one counts players like Geovany Soto or A.J. Pierzynski."
I guess they don't feel any better about Soto as a starter than I do.

And do keep in mind if resigns here, there is a decent likelihood of him being the # 2 behind Robinson next season.
Granted the catching market is going to be weak in the off season. But a guy who has had injury problems, and has really been a backup shortly after his career year - rookie season - I don't see anyone throwing any kind of dollars or long term contract at him.
Yet somehow people will still get upset when we don't improve the catching position this offseason with better players that don't exist
I'm ok with Chirinos and Soto. I wish they were the biggest problem we had.And do keep in mind if resigns here, there is a decent likelihood of him being the # 2 behind Robinson next season.

Besides, someone has to catch. You want JPA to be the backup?
Right. I mean until our catchers we are moving up thru the minors are ready there is not much to choose from. I like the play calling and arm strength of Soto and Chirinos.
I have to think that Telis might end up being a guy that figures into the conversation sometime next year, he's about a year ahead of Alfaro
Then there's Nicholas as well
Here some good news for what it's worth.
@calvinwatkins: Jurickson Profar also had MRI and he's been cleared to start throwing program.

I really like the way our catching future is coming along.I will take Chirinos and Tellis next year and until whenever Alfaro is ready.
