Posted this on the season thread by mistake ... but Oswalt is looking very good. Right now I'd prefer seeing this Oswalt in Holland's spot ... but if he can come in a couple of times a week and pitch 2 innings like this ... that would be a very nice thing.

no, his whole career. his end of year numbers are solid, which is all that matters, but how it gets there is a very inconsistant pattern. 2 good starts, 3bad, 3 good starts, 4 bad, and so on.........

just my opinion, and i realize its hard for pitchers to be consistant. thats my only complaint, which is pretty minor in the grand scheme of things

Dude, every pitcher has bad starts and gets rocked. That's why we look at a season on a whole, not small sample sizes.

The problem with Roy starting is you never know when the wheels are going to come off and get tagged for 5 runs. You could say the same for holland, but I still think holland gets his crap together sooner rather than later.

April: 3.69 (1 bad 4 QS)
May: 2.79 (1 bad 4 QS)
June: 3.38 (2 bad 3 QS)
July: 2.04 (1 bad 4 QS)
August: 6.07 (4 bad 1 QS)
Sept: 2.64 (1 bad 4 QS)
Playoffs: 5.09 (2 bad, 2 good)

In the playoffs its obvious they pulled him early after 5 and went to the bullpen when he was only at 90ish pitches

So outside a rough August and World Series, he was pretty consistent and has been for 2 years

Holland on the other hand....

Maybe he's a 1 inning middle reliever ... that doesn't earn you another shot at the rotation.

How can he be so excellent bottom of the 6th and then get drilled in the bottom of the 7th?
