this is a horrible loss considering the rangers had darvish going against a scrub like cook who is 0-4 in his last 5 starts. and they failed to get that awful taste of yesterdays boneheaded loss out of their mouth

Noticed most of the guys swinging on first pitches with little plate discipline.

Hey jta, I don't mind losing a baseball game. There are 162 of them. Its going to happen, a lot. What I do mind is boneheaded managing, which the Rangers get way more than their fair share of, boneheaded baserunning, which the Rangers do way more than the average baseball team, lollygagging outfielders who can't seem to be bothered to hustle half the time, and pitchers who act like junior high girls (read: Holland) and overhyped Japanese pitchers who inevitably break down once the calendar hits August. But then, that's just my opinion.

If you or some of the other nightly ( inning by inning) Wash complainers knew anything about managing a MLB team you wouldn't be wasting time posting on a message board. If you don't mind losing then why only show up to complain?

I didn't watch tonight or follow the game online. I decided this weekend to not watch any game where MY was in the field. I don't think my pr.otest was felt very far ... but my dog is happier with me tonight.

Has anyone noticed the spark that is missing lately? Craig Gentry. Just sayin.

Gentry is a very important part of this team. He's an exceptional cf and he just makes things happen. To bad he's losing playing time to Young.

Is it me or did darvish loss some velocity on his fastball tonight and last start? His stuff seem to be overpowering when he had 11ks against the angels?

well last night he had 9 in 6.2 innings, stuff is there, but he's making too many mistakes much like Holland

He can't avoid the big inning, its obvious looking at how he's pitching, that something isn't right, his pitch sequences just seem bizarre

Maybe he lost some velocity in order to gain some fastball command, and it just didn't have the desired results, either they were able to square it up better or it didn't break like he expected without the extra on his heater, I dunno, but they need to get it figured out... soon

I'm pretty much feeling the same way that Newberg is.... not worried about 162. But October...that's a different story.

And save the "well the way this team is playing / wash in managing... there wont be an October". Ease off the ledge a little bit. Seriously.

Fine, with wash at the helm we don't have a chance in October.

They were a strike away twice last year? :noidea:

Wash had easy day to day decisions to make last year, the lineup minus some matchup issues was pretty stable, the rotation was very stable

Now that decisions aren't dictated by common sense and its not as easy to put the 10 best players on the field on offense and defense, his faults are becoming much more apparent, especially in his insistence to play Young, and refusal to give Gentry more time, even though he has shown repeatedly to be a catalyst for the offense

Now, couple that with his always questionable in game calls, he just seems like a stubborn hard-headed my way type of manager thats only concerned with making certain people happy and less concerned with putting the best team on the field, and now he's starting to throw people under the bus in an effort to justify his moves and decisions

Wash will not last past this year if we have an early exit in the playoffs, especially if his poor decisions play a large part in that exit

This..

Also, there should've never been a game 7.Wash made several stupid decisions resulting in Texas losing that WS. Wash was badly outclassed two WS in a row. Expecting anything less a third time is stupid. JD has worked his ass off the put a championship team together and Wash is wiping his ass with it due to his own ego and stubbornness.

Ehhhh.... I think he'll be around for at least 1 of the 2 years they extended him for earlier this past offseason.

His contract takes him through the 2014 season.

As for firing him now, no one is going to fire a manager who has his team leading the division by 5 games & has the best record in the AL.

If you trust JD & company to make the appropriate acquisitions for the club....why not trust them with their decision to keep Wash @ the helm?

Yes, I'll agree... he makes some :wtf: decisions at times....but obviously JD and company like what they see?

It remains my opinion that decision to start the no longer spoken of catcher in Game 3 was the first link in the failure chain that cost TEX that game. If TEX wins game 3 there is no game 6.

In what was in fact a 5-game series at that point with TEX having gained HFA ... you must start your best lineup every game. TEX didn't and lost HFA just by having the wrong lineup to start the game.

You have no idea if JD and Nolan "like what they see" right now and neither do I. I would think they'd see how his wtf moments grown significantly this year, and unlike in years past he's not getting lucky enough to pull them off and they're costing us games.

One example of how he's changed is in years past he would've never played two catchers in the same lineup with out a third catcher on the bench for fear of injury. So what does he do yesterday? He plays Napoli and Soto in the same lineup leaving Olt on the bench. His ego is causing problems and he's throwing his own players under the bus to cover up his stupidity. The stupid thing is those players are the ones actually producing. There's a storm brewing in that clubhouse and they need to remove wash before it all blows up.

Yes, and Wash's reasoning for not playing his best team? "he's part of this team too and it's time for him to play".... As if this were the damn YMCA league where everybody gets playing time...

Nolan and JD are probably pretty busy figuring out how they can get 50 million dollars worth of pitching out of a guy who can't throw strikes or why a 4 million dollar pitcher winds up sulking in the BP or why the other 4 million dollar arm got bombed the other night.... and yet still have a club that has played more games than any other club in MLB and still have one of the best records in baseball.

Like I said, getting to October won't be the problem. Wash will watch us go down in flames in the playoffs though.
