I'm not sure what games you have been watching, but both of our losses this year were 100% Nathan's doing. That's 100% of them being completely his fault. In my book that's not a real good track record. I would rather have anyone else in our bull pen closing based on what I have seen of Nathan thus far.

Both losses could have been avoided as well if the offense came through in the clutch.
(IE... bases loaded in the bottom of the 8th..and nothing happens in the 1st loss. and the missed opportunities last night as well)

That said, anyone??? :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Lets go folks! Uehara or Lowe is the new closer! :rofl:

Joe says he thought his slider was down and they just put good swings on it :L. He was all over the middle of the plate. And if your slider is getting hit why keep throwing it?

Good game Rangers fans. Was pretty surprised the M's came back to win this one. The season is still early though and while blown 9th inning saves stink (I've seen plenty) the Rangers are still damn good and I fully expect them to win the division again. You guys will be watching exciting baseball from September on, while the M's season will most likely be over by July, so things could definitely be worse. A pretty sad tidbit, Seattle has matched their win total in Texas from all of last season. That's some epic futility right there. :L

Seeing as I'm off tomorrow and it's an early game, I might join in on the gdt if you guys don't mind. Texas is pretty much the only team the M's ever play that have fans on here you can talk baseball with.

Welcome!

Just as I'm not going to freak out about Nap, Elvis, Mitch, and Cruz all hitting <.200, I'm not going to freak out about a blown save and a loss by Nathan. He has one blown save, two losses, and two saves. Let's cut him some slack, after all he did throw quite the gem the night before in the 1-0 win.

The biggest screw up in this game, next to Nathan, goes to David Murphy. He's up with the bases loaded, has a 3-0 count and swings at three straight pitches out of the strike zone. One of the worst AB's you will ever see and that's saying something for a line up that Josh Hamilton's hitting IQ.

Yep, it's to early to hit the panic button. These guys won't start hitting their grooves for another 2-3 months. But , I have a feeling that Hamilton will still be driving me crazy with his 3 pitch AB's.

yup. I know you of all people saw what Valverde did yesterday. I saw it front and center since he gave Verlander 4 ER's.

probably a dumb question but why didn't Washington bring in Adams or Lowe or someone else when it was apparent that Nathan didn't have it last night?

I'd assume that since Nathan is coming back from surgery and we are still in the first week or so of the season, Wash didn't want to show Nathan a short hook and hurt any confidence. Yes, blowing a save hurts confidence. But knowing that you have no room for error could hurt Nathan.

Wash is going to give all of his starters plenty of time to work, and that is the thing I love and hate about Wash. He let's people sink or swim, sometimes that annoys me. In August and Sept it will annoy me. Not this early though.

i understand that you don't want to hurt his confidence but what about the rest of the team's confidence in him. they had to watch him give away a 2 run lead and Washington doing nothing to alleviate the problem. all of his pitches were up and pretty much flat making them easy to hit. tell him "Joe, you'll get them next time but i'm going to bring in ---- to finish the job for you"
