Wonder why they even signed him... I was under the impression he would have a good upside honestly

just taking another flier, not getting it done in AAA. He will be released soon probably

Or they do it to find out what is happening outside of aberrations.
They aren't aberrations. They represent a pattern. Your post above is just chock-full of excuses- if he hadn't gotten injured, if he wasn't sick, if you take away his worst performances, etc.

Sorry, but those things did happen and that's who he is. Every single pitcher in baseball would have awesome numbers if bad things and bad games didn't happen to them. There are COUNTLESS #4-5 starters in baseball who are x amount of "aberrations" away from being very good pitchers. That is not unique to Derek Holland.

Coming into the season, the Bullpen was thought to be out biggest strength... now it is pretty clear it is the biggest weakness. I forget now, who did we trade Freeman for and is he doing any good?

DFA'd Freeman and I think he was since released by the Brewers

It's not an aberration if 3 of 13 starts are bad...
I understand what you are saying and that is why I said if it continues to happen I will agree with you, but I am willing to wait and see.

The one start was definitely an aberration though. He had never put up a performance like that as far as I know.

Lol, I am obviously really out of touch. I used to keep up with these things much better.

I'm glad Rua took Iwakuma deep. The rooster needed to see Rua have success against a good righty. I mean no offense to Hoying, but I think the guy needs more seasoning and doesn't deserve 75% of the left field ABs. Why the hell is Bobby Wilson not playing more? Can't argue with his stats.

Rua should have been getting more starts all year. Banister just isn't going to do it, if he had Ryan would be posting even better #'s

I remember way too many 6 and 7 ER starts over his career.

11 times over the past 6 years before this one. 4 of those times were during his recovery from the sickness that I mentioned earlier.

Over the past 4 years Hamels has done so 8 times.

His recent performances are what counts, same as Prince. Hard to count on them YTD. Hope they both turn it around

What's funny is that earlier it was stressed to me that his whole career is what matters and now you are putting the emphasis on the recent performances. lol

You just lost me by mentioning Hamels in a discussion about Holland...have fun sticking up for a dude who has given you no reason to believe he's ever going to be better than an oft injured starter who is at best a 4.
