Series Thread: Rangers to clip the Cardinals in St. Louis 6/17-6/19

Three one run wins. An amazing series. Thought that dumb double steal was going to come into play.

Matheny is going to take a lot of heat for this 5 game home losing streak and this season in general but that was a Cardinals team that wanted to win.

The Cardinals GM Mozeliak punted on this season and thats where I'm putting the blame. Cardinals needed an outfielder, didn't get Heyward and then didn't make a big signing. Cubs took the best pitcher and best position player from the playoffs last year so a lot of the grit is gone on this team. Carpenter and good starting pitching but not enough talent. Not saying they'd be better with Heyward but they clearly needed another player and got cheap.

This went exactly to script. The clutch team was clutch and the unclutch team was unclutch.

Ranger farm has been key. Allowed us to get Hamels and young guys have produced. The Desmond trade is looking shrewd and the add on last year relief has helped even with the duds picked up. We are riding pen but think we will be replenished after break. Catcher production has been huge. Big moves there too. If Yu comes back strong then that will make us that much harder come playoffs. Yet Fangraphs gsve us no respect. Tough loss to Jays last year produced no expected hangover especially to Elvis

Don't think Fielder would have hit a homer against that pitcher. And there is no way he beats that ball to second.

All I can say is WOW!

This team is legit. If JD can get some 6th and 7th inning relief help (plus Kela), Darvish can get and stay healthy, and Prince can figure out how to hit line drives again, cause you know Banny's going to keep playing him, then October could be a special month for the Rangers.

I know they will hit a skid pretty soon, because that's how baseball goes, but they are on an amazing roll right now. Pretty fun to watch.
