Would typically prefer Perez over Kirkman, but he's pitched better lately and I'm not sure Perez is ready for that role. Scheppers has less propensity for the long ball than Lowe which can hurt more in October than ever. Lowe can be absolutely dominant, but when he's not it's ugly.

Yea ... I remember ... think he was dominant for 2 innings once. Can't remember when it was though.

It honestly wouldn't bother me if the Angela took 3/4.

I know Oakland is only 3 back and therefore a much bigger threat to potentially challenge for the AL West title here over the last 3 weeks. But I'm still rooting for Oakland to sweep the series against the Angels.

I'm not scared of the A's. Not one bit. They are playing so far over their heads right now it isn't funny. In other words, this is the absolute best they can play. What we're seeing right now from them is the worst case scenario of what we would have to face in the playoffs. Coco Crisp, Brandon Moss, Cris Carter, Cliff Pennington... they're just very, very average players at best. Cespedes is the only good hitter on their team. And I know that Tommy Milone, Jarrod Parker, Travis Blackley, and Dan Straily are all nice young pitchers, but none of them have ever faced a lineup like the Rangers under the national spotlight of the playoffs.

However, if you look at the Angels, they are downright scary if most or all of them are playing to potential. Imagine if the playoff trio of Weaver-Greinke-Haren all caught fire in one series. Lights out. Imagine if Trout, Pujols, and Trumbo all showed up to play and one to two of Hunter, Callaspo, Kendrick, and Morales also were locked in. Scary to think about. That could be a quick exit for any opponent.

We've seen the best from the A's and it's nothing the Rangers can't handle. I'd rather have the Angels pushed far out of Wild Card contention now and then have us put away the A's in the next few weeks.

An Oakland then Baltimore path to the WS would be about the least threatening outcome I can imagine.

Agreed. I want LAA 9.5 games out (in the west) after this series...and hopefully 3-4 back in the Wildcard.

That makes sense I suppose. I'd take the A's in the playoffs any day.

Left with a strained left shoulder. Didn't want to come out....precautionary measure. IMO, he'll be out tomorrow as well (day off).
