Murph....in all honesty, if you were hanging-your-hat on this team contending, that's on you. You knew better, and you know it. Put that Kool-Aid cup down buddy.

But the A's are playing the best of damn near anyone in the ML right now. So don't rule us out at .500 for the break. And we're getting ready to go on the road, which for some strange reason, seems like home to us.

Oh I wasn't hanging my hat on this team. I thought they might have a chance at a WC. I was mostly speaking for people that were thinking or saying so. I thought they had a chance to catch the Astros but I think the Angels probably win the division.

A's have scored lots of runs lately that is for sure

He is what he is, and he's gonna be in Round Rock soon I suspect.

I thought it was a terrible idea to call him up to begin with. But I was wrong.

I think this has been a terrific experience for him/team/us and he's gained some really valuable information which he'll go down and start applying.

Lord....most fans are jumping in front of players on foul, fly balls to catch one. And what happens in Arlington? They part like the Red Sea to allow the opposing team to catch one.

Over 7 runs a game in there last 11 or 12 games. But our command of the strike zone has been the problem.

My understanding this was a rebuilding year. So agree with your assessment. BTW great Rangers fan presence here. Great site.

Welcome, you will find a lot of great Rangers fans and some smart baseball people around here. You will also find a lot of cussing and bitching, all in the name of wanting to see the team win. Its a fun place to enjoy baseball talk

I've been calling for him for weeks. Ege would be the lefty I would call up. Anything is worth a try. The current bullpen isn't working....obviously.

I wouldn't mind Roman Mendez being called back up

Right, there is no excuse to keep sticking with the same guys over and over like Freeman. Give as many guys as you can a shot to see what we have. Some guys get 1 or 2 appearances and we move them on out while guys who have been failing on a regular basis keep coming back.

Might be better to try to put the best seven RPs in the bullpen rather than running out LH specialists that don't get LH batters out... and then get teed up on by RH batters.

TEX unfortunately keeps yoyoing Claudio ... while Freeman and Detwiler are equally ineffective.

Just go with the best RPs ... if all RH ... so be it.

Now there's a fucking concept all the "new metrics mavens" just can't embrace, but I sure as hell can.

Imagine in a perfect world, where a pitcher could come into a game and be expected to get the batter out.

I'm kinda of picturing Billy Martin, Casey, Whitey, etc. trying to wrap their mind-hands around this.

Thank god no Kazmir. We finally get a break on that. Since the last A's series, the pitching match ups have been absolutely brutal.

I see what you mean.......:noidea:

He'll never get the call if he continues allowing almost 2 baserunners per inning

I assume you're talking about Ege. His WHIP (1.73) has been coming down lately. He's also struck out 24 in 19 IP. Something our relievers don't do. He has walked 14 though, but he isn't allowing them to score. Another thing our relievers don't do. ERA is a solid 1.37. His WHIP was 0.75 in the 9 games in HD. It wouldn't surprise me if it continues to fall.
