From Evan Grant:

Also of note: It was 96 and out of the zone. He also singled home a run on 93 at the top of the zone. Velocity at the top or above the zone has been García’s biggest weakness. It’s how pitchers want to attack him. If he is showing pitchers he can more adequately defend himself against the high heat, the league could be in a whole lot of trouble.

Speaking of trouble, this García’s line vs. the Astros since the start of last year’s ALCS: 12 for 32 (.375), six homers, 19 RBIs. Oh,and an ALCS MVP trophy in eight games. El Bombi is a bad hombre.

Also from Evan Grant:

Best start: Is it possible that García could do all that and still be upstaged? Well, Cody Bradford certainly made the case. He allowed a leadoff single and then didn’t allow another hit until there was one out in the eighth. It also ended his night. He became the first Ranger to pitch past the seventh inning this season.

The question about Bradford is whether he’s got enough of a repertoire to work through the order a third time. He did a pretty good job on Friday, relaying on his fastball-changeup mix twice through the order and throwing breaking balls about a third of the time during his third trip through the order. It was effective.

Not buying it. He stinks every time he comes up to the bigs. Give someone else a chance.
I don’t either. Every time he comes up, it looks like he afraid to throw anything in the. Strike zone. Don’t care for Yerry either. Rather have Anderson and Church. Both had a good spring training.

I think Cody pretty much assured he'll stay in the starting rotation for awhile longer last night... :thumb:

Bieber out for the remainder of the year. What a loss for Cleveland. He was pitching lights out.

@saddles I think you nailed it on Cody Bradford. He looks like a stud. He may well be our second best pitcher behind Evo. He and Dunning are two of my favorite pitchers on this staff because while they don't have elite velocity but they are very crafty pitchers who can keep batters guessing. I'd rather move Heaney or Lorenzen to the pen.
