That's true....hopefully we won't be looking for strictly a DH like Butler
With Choo having a 7 years deal it probably won't happen, but Adrian Beltre gets my vote as a future DH.

So your then saying we need a LF. But I understand Justin not wanting Moreland as the DH since technically that's what he was and I didn't either. But you are correct in that Choo would be a better DH than LF.
That is the rub going forward the next 2/3/4 years. Throw in Fielder if he rebounds and DH is more than covered. I do kinda like this DH by committee over a guy that has to DH 140 plus games
Agree with you on long term contracts. Such has done a job on the Angels.I know it's the nature of the business, but long term deals tend to make going forward difficult sometimes. That's why I have never been a fan of deals over 3 or 4 years. Speaking of going forward, if I was Jon Daniels and heard my secretary say that Billy Beane was on line 1, I'd hide under my desk.
I'm not really a fan of any of the guys currently playing in the OF. Martin is a solid defensive CF, but his baseball IQ is just above knucklehead status. Choice, Rios and Choo at times look like they are chasing naked women that only they can see.

Hope Choo performs as a leadoff guy for several years and is worth part of the contract he was given, because he is as much of a liability in the outfield as Cruz was and doesn't possess the Cruz arm to make up for some of it. Martin has yet to show that he has a clue at the plate in certain situations. Rios hasn't shown much power and has been a DP machine and Choice is bad defensively and should be playing at a lower level.
I was always a Cruz fan and sometimes we are hard on our own. I really wanted us to keep him as a Ranger. He was not perfect but was a good fit for the Rangers as a whole and did many positives to help us during those fun years.
Saw where the Rays claimed Cory Burns.
Hope he has better luck there, he had been awful this year
I know starting pitching will carry the day this off season but I hope some thought would be given to possibly bringing back Cruz. Though I doubt that would hold water.I knew with Cruz you had to take in to account he wasn't great at balls hit directly over his head and would pull up at the wall but he was a run producer. You had to deal with his slumps but when the dude would get hot for a few series he could carry a team. See the 2011 ALCS. The current team without Fielder doesn't have that type of power guy and who knows if he gets back to the power type guy he was before. Lots of years and money tied up in Choo and Fielder

Agree on LT contracts. Beltre was 5 years with a 6th year vesting option in 2016 and he has been worth the money. But more times it's not and it just handcuffs the team.
Baltimore low balling Cruz for that contract may work against them, I don't know. But maybe Moreland will have that season we all expect him to have next year. He's hardly any trade bait now. Just need some pop in the bottom of that order for next year.Baltimore should try to lock him up while he is signed but he may wait and see what FA will get him again after this season. I wouldn't be opposed to them offering a couple years for say 25. Though as you say JD will have to get some things done on the pitching front for the team compete next year, hope he can pull off a couple things
We already have a DH. The problem is he's also playing LF.
@Evan_P_Grant: Chris Davis playing 3B for Baltimore in place of Machado. First start for him there since 17 games in 2011 after trade from #RangersThe Orioles said Machado will start serving the suspension Monday night and will miss games against the Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox. The Orioles will be forced to play Monday with a 24-man roster.
