I didn't realize he was limiting it to a trade scenario. I prefer to go the FA route if at all.
Again those are my thoughts exactly. Makes no sense at the moment to trade arguably the best pitcher in baseball for another TORP. And unless his name is Verlander they usually bomb out. Keep him and go the FA route.

Newberg has very little cred at the moment, in my opinion. Anyone that determined to see Gallo back here has to be taken with a gigantic grain of salt.
Avery big grain of salt.

From Scott Lucas:

Optioning Calhoun, Reks (now back in Texas), and Solak in May certainly crowded the outfield, what with Leody Taveras, Bubba Thompson, and Steele Walker already there and deserving of steady time. So far, the person most crowded out has been Calhoun, unless he been fighting a minor injury of which I'm unaware. Calhoun started three straight when he reported to Round Rock and pinch-hit the day after that, but since then, he's started nine of 19 possible games, batting 214/.261/.286 in that span.

Re: Willie Calhoun,

It might be time for Dandy Don to start singing "Turn Out the Lights." The party appears to be over.

2nd that. Gallo has great athleticism but he has changed nothing in regards to his approach at the plate based on his results.

I think Gallo will be doing a 1 year deal, play without the shift, then sign a big contract after 2023.

I think reducing the shift will have a pretty small impact on his game.

The shift has never effected his inability to hit HR and neither did it have an effect on massive K's.

Talk about stature. Walter Johnson, Bob Gibson and Martin Perez. That's about as tall in statute as it gets, right there.

Kody Funderbunk is a 70 grade name
I remember as a kid in 1973, a friend of mine knew I liked baseball so he gave me this little booklet that had every team's 40 man roster in it. As my brother and I combed over that book one name stuck out over all of the others. He was a kid from the White Sox organization and we became a fan of his simply because of his funny name. It was Bucky Dent.

not to take anything away from that accomplishment, but I wonder how the list looks if you remove the "undefeated" qualifier from it

Tell you what, give me 9 or 10 pitchers to look up and I will check to see if they accomplished that kind of 8 game stretch. I have already looked up Sale and Degrom and neither of them made it just based on innings and earned runs given up in 8 straight games. I didn't even have to check for the HRs.

I am thinking maybe it had to be someone long since retired.
