Am not much of an in game poster ... usually like to get on after for our in depth expert post game analysis ... and surprising there isn't anyone here to comment about the excellent game by Roy Oswalt tonight.

TEX picked an excellent opponent for Oswalt to get his first start ... and there is something about Friday nights @ RBIA that brings out the fans and excitement. Only thing lacking was TEX not wearing red tops to add fire. But even the fans seemed to lose concentration late and allowed a wave to start despite gendarmes attempts to muzzle them with water cannons. Ross had a good appearance ... Adams was okay again ... so was Nathan.

Ho hum ... TEX won its 7th in a row and is 10-1 in its last 11 games. Can probably excuse MY even for the cpl of balls that got by him ... probably would have gotten by Beltre too.

Hope Craig Gentry's ankle is okay ... stepped on Todd Helton's foot. With Gentry leading off the bottom of the 5th ... with TEX leading 4-0 and with Kinsler and Andrus behind him I think just about every real TEX follower just knew he was going to drop the bunt down ... but seems like COL was surprised. Almost beat it out even though the ball went right to the pitcher. A better bunt and he might not of messed his ankle up when he put on the jets. Bet Helton has a spike mark in his foot too.

That's it. Not much else happened other than a couple of cheap Beltre and Napoli homers. TEX wins.

Good night Chet. Good night David. Good game by Roy Oswalt.

Did I miss anything significant Romeo?

I was pretty disgusted tonight by Josh Hamilton's half hearted, half ass AB's. He can do a lot better than that.

Nope. You pretty much got it other than me spending the evening talking to myself :).

I didn't post about Oswalts start because the thread had died, but great first outing from Oswalt. Dude painted the black all night. Hope he can continue these types of performances, but as of now I feel pretty good about him.

Hope gentry didn't hurt his ankle more by playing on it. It was obviously bothering him.

MY still awful at the plate. Beltre still awesome, Cruz seems to be maintaining and hopefully Napoli is digging his way out. Oh yeah, Nathan is still nails.

Yeah, I don't know what that was about. He looked like he really didn't even want to be there tonight.

Yea... had same impression. Can't remember the AB but it looked like he tweaked something on a swing and grimaced.

Figured he would eat up GM ... but got K'd instead looking pretty bad. That was the AB that I thought the HP ump would have gotten on Beltre for not being On Deck after almost taking Hamilton's bat in his face. But maybe Beltre told him ... "I'm going to stand down here in the pit ... if you want someone in the On Deck Circle ... you go stand over there ... I'm not".

Oh ... and by the way TEX leads all MLB ... with a 1.5 game lead on LAD and a more relevant 2.0 game lead on NYY. In the AL TEX' +97 run differential leads NYY by +45 runs and BOS in third place by +60 (SIXTY) runs.

Just trivia ... doesn't count for squat ... but thought it was interesting. And TEX really isn't hitting like it could and should.

He's looked like that the whole month of June. I think pitchers have finally got smart and have quit throwing him strikes because he gets himself out so easily by swinging at shit. I've never seen a hitter that so many people talk about being a great hitter swing at such awful pitches. His stats for June are atrocious.....217 with 7 RBI. That's awful.

The thing is it seems like he's content with that. I don't see any obvious signs that he's trying to change it.

I think Josh has gotten worn down by the steady diet of breaking balls he's seeing during each AB, but rather than take the slop out of the strike zone he plays right into their hands. Not very smart.

:L josh has got to realize that swinging at that trash isn't going to get him any more hits. He wants to hit so bad, but he's got to show he won't chase all that garbage. Till then he's going to continue to be just awful.

MY has lost the ability to hit the ball on a line the other way. He's flying out on lazy fly balls on the same pitches he used to drive.

Hate the idea of bunting runners over with no outs, but that may have been the best use of Torrealba's at bat.
