I'm guessing the way this is designed to work, there would be an off-field official (press box area) with a screen in front of him showing where to place the ball and whether or not it's a first down. That official would relay that information to the officials on the field.

If the NFL is worried about that perception? They could show it on the field, similar to the yellow line they use now but it should provide more accuracy.

It does. If I had been quizzed which team has gone the longest since their last playoff win, I probably would have guessed about 20 teams, maybe more, before coming up with Miami.
