@SoShady @eaglesnut - a few posts earlier I mentioned that I accidentally bid on Zach Ertz in my auction league and won. I say accidentally because he wasn't really on my radar as my TE.

I see Ertz is hurt. If you can share any local news on him, or convince me why I shouldn't consider swapping Ertz out for say Rudolph or Daniels, I'd appreciate your comments.

Apparently Pat Shurmur doesn't know either. I still like Ertz upside in the offense (and why the hell did Chip draft him if he wasn't going to use him??), but there are a lot of places to go with the football for Sam.

It usually pays off to have Peyton's TE. Tough call.

Well, I'm not in Philly, but I'd expect 70 catches for 800+ yards and 6 TDs from Ertz. I think his 3 TDs last year was on the low side, and his catches and yards should tick up a bit. Partially from normal development as a third-year player, and don't forget Maclin is gone.

Daniels with Peyton is nice in theory, but at this point in his career he's neither Orange Julius nor Dallas Clark... and I think Peyton will fall off significantly at some point this season. I'd rather have Ertz, especially late.

I think the Denver TE's are going to be asked to block, often. Both tackles are subpar. I'd rather have Ertz too

Junior Hemingway cut by the Chiefs.

The WR, who never lived up to his potential, says farewell to the arms of Alex Smith and Chase Daniels. The question for the Chiefs was to have and have not an extra receiver. Reportedly, Andy Reid told Hemingway in his office, "Send not to know for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee."

Meh. Nice try, but Out-of-Control-Beard Andrew Luck doesn't make the cut.

So what's your team look like? Did you post it earlier?
I didn't.

$300 budget

QB Philip Rivers $7
RB Justin Forsett $38
RB Lamar Miller $56
WR Dez Bryant $70
WR/TE Jeremy Maclin $16
TE Zach Ertz $3
D/ST Bills D/ST $5
K Justin Tucker $2
BE Mark Ingram $44
BE Jarvis Landry $8
BE John Brown $4
BE Ameer Abdullah $16
BE Joe Flacco $1
Total: $270

The sick thing is there are still some quality players available. But none that I feel would be better than what I have already.

Marshawn Lynch was the highest paid at $100. Forte was next at $95. Homers.
Could of used the extra $30 I had left on some other elite guys, but since they were going early (and expensively), I wanted depth and value, not just a few studs.

Had my auction draft this past weekend. Thought I would post as comparison to Joe's.
$200 budget.
QB Matt Ryan $9
RB L McCoy $34
RB J Hill $39
WR Dez $46
WR C Johnson $14
WR/TE J Brown $13
TE C Fleener $1
Flex T Gurley $16- If Mason doesn't recover, I probably start M Jones week one at flex.
DST Dolphins $3
K A Vinateri $2
BN T Mason $8
BN T Lockett $3
BN Matt Jones $6
BN Taliafero $2
BN Artis-Payne $2
BN P Dorsett $1

Total $199

This is 14 team PPR league with the extra flex. There is absolutely noone left on waivers.
High bids A Luck$62, A Peterson $58.
I went for top WR and near top 2 RBs, and spent some $$$ on Gurley/Mason. Rest of team was catch as catch can- so my depth is so so.

Wow. Fuzz. I think you did better in your 14-team auction than I did in my 12-team auction. Great bunch of starters.

Thanks Joe
Love my Starters. Injuries would be bad as I didn't have money for much depth.

Not to scare you but that was my strategy last season in the auction league. Spend all my money on elite starters and fill in the bench with scrubs.

Get this, last season I had Dez, Calvin and Emmanuel as my WR trio. Lacy was my RB and Romo was my QB. My bench killed me. Didn't help that Calvin was not 100%. Went 7-6 and didn't even make the playoffs. So this year I opted to go for depth. We shall see.

That is funny because last year I went for depth and stayed away from high priced elite. finished mid pack so decided to go the other way. We will have to follow up to see which strategy works this year.

That's funny.
Even at 7-6, I was only a game and a half off the division leader who went 8-4-1.
We'll have to compare notes in December.

Funny stories, Fuzz and Joe! Opposites attract?

And you know my favorite. ...... John Brown for $4?????? I'm not sure "steal" begins to describe it. Nice to see you both have them, as I think $13 is a bargain too!

Random thought number 2315: I love drafting Labor Day Weekend.
Random thought number 2316: I hate drafting Labor Day Weekend.
Love it cuz I know all the injuries and depth charts are 99.9999% set
Hate it cuz now days even the guise who don't live this shit 365 days know it all too just by looking at their phone. Players who were "value picks" now become early rounders. If you want Dougie, Foster, Adams and guys that could give you an edge you're gonna have to pop on them a round earlier at least than you planned.

Two Stories
1) When I nominated Brown, I bid the minimum - $1. He got bumped up to $2, then $3 almost immediately. Got a little worried but it was at that moment, that someone else asked, "Who is John Brown? Is he even the starter?" I just shrugged my shoulders like I didn't know. Then I waited for the bid clock to wind down, then bid $4. No one else bid.
2) To be honest wasn't completely sold on Brown (since I've seen reports on how much Palmer trusts Fitz). Was actually watching the Cardinals-Broncos game on Thursday night and they interviewed Fitz... He puts his arm around John Brown during the interview and says, "This guy is our future." And goes on to say that the team has big plans for him this year. Boom! Sold.
