They gave up two 1st Rd picks, a 3rd, and a starting QB for Matt Stafford.

A serviceable starting QB, a 3rd and 2 1sts? I like it... a lot.

Rams were 4th in rushing attempts, 3rd in rushing yards, 4th in rushing tds, and yards per rushing attempt. Cam Akers just rushed for over 220 yards in the those two playoff games.
I don't mean to question your source but 3rd in yards? There wasn't a back with over 750 yards in the season ( not playoffs ). IDK about 3rd. I think they may have had a top ten rushing attack but I;ll have to look it up. Anyway, Akers will be great next year and the RB by the committee will fade away

I wish Matt Stafford nothing but the best with the Rams. I am glad they were able to get some draft picks and it's a big hit on Detroit's salary, but for a full blown rebuild, I don't see the Lions investing much money in free agency this year. If Goff pans out, which is unlikely with the route Detroit is going, then it's a win. If he does not, they can cut ties with him in 2022 and save north of $20 million, I believe. But I do believe Stafford is better than Goff, and they should try to win now while they can with those heavy investments.

You won't like the pricetag for that serviceable QB, but the Lions are in a rebuild so they can swallow it. Its the draft picks that they're after in this trade.

Rams sure fuck up signings...Gurley, Cooks and Goff.
But also made some good decisions with the long term signings of Donald and Ramsey.

A lot to give up for an aging QB but they're all in mode for the next 2 yrs. Lions got a nice haul to start the rebuild.

Donald for sure but kinda a no brainer
Ramsey? To be determined, doesn't strike me as a team guy if the wheels come off
And don’t think that the long term signings of Kupp and Woods were that bad either. Waiting to see how they fair with Stafford since Kupp was Goff’s favorite target.

Wow... Just saw a stat from Clayton... Since Stafford was drafted by the Lions, the Lions running game is ranked 31st in total over those 12 years... That's crazy bad...

Kupp stopped being the favorite when he became an important blocker in that offense.
Woods & Kupp pretty much spilt targets. & both IMO are earning their contracts.

I am fucking stunned there was a team that was worse.

you know the more I think about it.
The more I understand the Rams getting rid of 1st round picks for vets.
With Vets they know what they are getting.

With their 1st round picks they were getting players like Phillips, Austin & Goff.
Take the vets Ram fans! :thumb:
Seems to work out better for you!

I bet the Rams give Stafford an extension, freeing up more money this year.
Well that would be a start. The Lambs are like $35M above the projected cap currently if Sportrac numbers are correct?
Some teams going to get some decent players. This doesn't bode well for the LAR depth. A few key injuries to starters and you can write off all those hopes of "in winning mode now".

Yes, but vets come with price tags. Sure is nice finding quality draft pics you can lock up for 4 or 5 years on the cheap. The best formula is a mixture of both, with mid tier vets who are still able to get it done.

Just look at the NE roadmap for the past two decades.
